I think I had Dom Pérignon once, since they had nothing else. Even a 'Veuve Clicquot' can easily rally with it. It's nasty, but since it's not cheap, everybody thinks it's great. I stick with Cristal every time ...

It's like most of the Rothschild vineyard - just overrated stuff. Nice bottles, nice labels, and cement tanks where the wine is stored. It's like believing Chivas Regal is really 12/24 years old. Who put all these huge tanks up 12 years ago? Billions of liters, shipped worldwide? :)

There are a lot of exceptional champagnes out there for a good price, but mostly unknown. You get very good wine around $30, why should champagne be more? We're paying more and more for labels.
