How Long Could You Dwell In Total Darkness Before You Lost Your Sanity?
How does 38 months sound?

Did anyone see the movie "Murder in the First" with Kevin Bacon and Christian Slater? Based on a true story... The trial that shut down Alcatraz for good.

I can't believe they kept a human being in a dark dungeon for 38 months because he tried to escape once.

His crime??? He stole $5 to feed his younger sister after their parents died and he couldn't find any work.

This is one of the best DVD's I've seen lately, and it really got to me.

1. thanks for the recommendation
Sounds absolutely horrific and awful (not the movie, but the situation).

I couldn't stand it that long. Hell, I went crazy when I lived in St. Petersburg, Russia, and it would get dark at 3 pm! I need light!

4. The dark wouldn't drive a person crazy, but the isolation would.

6. Blind people seem to deal with it just fine

what's 38 months?

I'd think the dank and loneliness would be the real problem.

Sure wouldn't want someone to flick on a light after 38 months, though.

7. Yeah, I guess the isolation would have a more profound effect than
the darkness. Either one (darkness or isolation) by itself would be tough to endure.

10. LOL! Sadly, it's more than that
In the last 23 years, we've had fifteen of darkness.
