70. I'll second the Morbier
And add in real Muenster from Alsace, with a dusting of cumin seeds.

Every time I hear someone say they like Muenster I ask them if they've ever had the real thing - which bears NO resemblance to "American Muenster".

Real Muenster is runny and wonderfully stinky.

and the way Morbier is made---the morning milk on one side of the ash-layer, the evening's on the other---always struck me as a pretty cool idea!

:hi:

edit: And I would like to add as Honorable Mention: FRESH MOZZARELLA

But my favorites are Muenster, Edam and Gouda. I do love a lot of stringy yummy melted mozzarella on pizza and whatnot as well :-)

Swiss? Cheddar? American?

Go to a real cheese shop and ask for a taste of Epoisses. If it doesn't kill you, it will make you much, much stronger. Best cheese in the world.

Also, for the milder at heart, Ossau-Iraty - a beautifut mild sheep cheese from the Basque region.
Generally available now, can be found at Trader Joe's

A good cheese shop should bowl you over with dairyness the moment you walk in, and the next 5 years will be devoted to
fighting hardened arteries.

Love: sharp cheddar, Swiss, Gouda, Fontina, Mozzarella, Havarti, Provolone, Ricotta

Hate: Brie (never understood its popularity), Roquefort (don't even like the salad dressing made with it), smoked cheese (smoking is for bacon and ham, not for cheese)

37. You can't get it here because...
many of the best cheeses are made with unpasteurized milk and can't be imported from Europe or South America.

But, there's a Canadian double creme goat Brie that's pretty damn good. Don't rmember the name, but I see it at Trader Joe's every so often.

And real Fontina d'Aosta, if you can find it. The real stuff-- pinkish with a beige rind. Not the lame Gouda-like stuff with the red wax. Probably my all-time favorite cheese for all purposes. Great to cook with, melt, or just gob down.

Had a Brazilian food shop across the street from me when I lived in Joisey that had fantastic, and unpronouncable, cheeses they smuggled in.

45. And even then...
my nephew's birthday is May 20, and twice in the past decade it's snowed on that day.

I am enjoying the weather tremendously...walking at night, especially around here, can be a bit hazardous...the puddles are deep, and sometimes they're frozen over after dark...and sometimes not.

The other day I stepped in one - call me a human ice breaker - and ended up halfway up my shin in water. x( Those pants will need washing now...

Hole's is THE place to go, isn't it? :) I may scoot over there at some point; I need some more houseplants.

What a shame she died ( both of them of course)...but being as left as you can get (she was a UU) and Lieutenant Governor really helped to inject a little humanity into politics in the province. Not that a$$h@le Klein had any sense of the feeling...or even the word...:grr:

I was very surprised when Klein appointed her as LG. She was so nice and human compared to his, his....... his assholishness. (Is that even a word???)

I know what you mean about the holes lurking under the ice - and everywhere else around here. Yesterday I told my husband that I was thinking of walking down 111 Ave. and taking video of the craters they call potholes and putting them on You Tube. It might embarrass the powers that be enough to do something about it.
