Rubber appreciation thread!
This morning I made homemade pizza (Chicken, spinach, asiago and mozzarella cheeses, red and green peppers...) and if it wasn't for the rubber spatula I'd have been in trouble.

Rubber is also used to make tires for cars. Now I don't know about you, but rubber seems more appropriate than cardboard or steel.

It's also used to make latex. Ever been in surgery and didn't get an infection? Rubber helped reduce the chances of that. It also helps people from getting pregnant, but let's not go there.

Somebody tried to make a cheap analogue to rubber. This failed but then somebody applied it to a newspaper and called it "silly putty". I wonder how many pregnancies could be avoided using silly putty? But I digress. If you can afford 50 pounds of the gunk, check this out.

I'll think of more later; the laundry's done. Hmmm, my plastic clothes basket... I wonder if the handgrips are made of rubber?

1. Rubber latex trees

When I was in 6th grade, I selected the rubber making process as my project; created a poster showing each step (complete with illustrations!) and had to give an oral report. Rubber bands! What would we do without them?? :D

4. I use Silicone Rubber to produce my molds.
The stuff isn't cheap but it picks up every detail.
I am a bigger fan of plastic though
