3. :
• John Couey found guilty of murder, kidnapping, sexual assault
• Jurors to decide whether to recommend life in prison or death penalty
• Nine-year-old victim, Jessica Lunsford, was abducted and murdered in 2005
• Lunsford was placed in garbage bags and buried alive where she suffocated

14. The part that really made me cry
she was found clutching a purple stuffed dolphin.

I hope he doesn't last a month in prison and is terrified every second.

22. I hope he's terrified every second too...
but I hope he lasts a good long time. Death is an end. I want him to (suffer, be terrified, be miserable) for as long as possible.

5. No...
to be very frank, he tests my limits on conscience.

As someone very anti-death-penalty, I have a hard time arguing that he is part of the collective-nobody who should be executed. As wrong, as abhorrent, as I think capital punishment is...I'm having a hard time working up the outrage to be outraged by his (possible) execution.

I hope every day of the rest of his life is brutal and miserable, so brutal and miserable that he wishes and prays he were dead. And I hope he has a long long long life to be so suicidally-miserable.

8. Guys like this is why we need Life Without Parole, in solitary confinement
If people do not want the Death Penalty, and there are valid reasons to ban it, then I want to see people like this punished, not just segregated from society, not reformed into a valued member of society, but made to suffer - and yes - suffer to the point where he wishes he were dead. This guy should never see another human face again.

9. Creeps like him
make me doubt my opposition to the death penalty. Let him get raped and buried alive...like he did to that poor child.

10. I want to be a death-penalty opponent like a good liberal
but when a complete and utter piece of scum like this monster is strapped to the gurney I find it hard to feel anything other than a grim feeling of satisfaction.

16. Hell No!
Animal! (Apologies to our four legged friends everywhere). Let him loose in the general prison population. Even hardened criminals have some standards when it comes to child rapists and murderers. He won't last very long and it will save the justice system a bundle without having to deal with lengthy drawn out appeals, etc.

Buried alive........that is just too horrible to imagine.

17. Despicable man.
The only people I can hate, however, are those in power in the cesspool that is the White House. They are the only people I would have to consider the death penalty for.

21. Yes; because I can reason that his mind is twisted through no fault of his own.
But mostly I feel sympathy for that poor little girl and her family.
I can only imagine their suffering, yet it makes me cry.

I feel sorry for him; but shed no tears for him.

And though I like to think of myself as a reasonable person; if I witnessed someone abusing a child as he did, I'm afraid my reaction would not be reasonable at all.
