Do you know any 19-yr-olds who sound like dying hippos when they vomit?
My poor nephew, visiting from California, spent four hours puking his guts out last night. The sound of it terrified me. I can't describe it.

We went to the ER where he was found to be severely dehydrated; small wonder since he couldn't keep the tiniest sip of water down. Hey did blood tests, all fine, gave him two big bags of fluids intraveneously, and gave him an injection to stop the vomiting which WORKED! Thank the maker.

He's now fine. Sitting on the living room floor assembling another Gundam action figure.

I was to have taken him bowling today but I managed, with my impeccable timing, to exacerbate a lumbar spine problem, and so today while he's not bowling I'm high on pain drugs & muscle relaxers. Some vaction for the man. :(

1. Probably hates vomitting
I sound like that. If we relaxed, it probably wouldn't hurt as much.

2. lord, Trog, but who can be relaxed while vomiting?
Yikes! Certainly not me. I hate that more than anything. I would rather have broken bones. Multiple broken bones. Than throw up.

7. You must become one with the vomit
and let it floooooooow through you.

Just call me the Yoda of Puke. :-) It's true, though. Just relax into it and let it ride, cuz you ain't gonna stop it. It's happening, so give in to the inevitable and enjoy the ride.

11. LOL
one with the vomit ROFL

It's been so long since I threw up (knock wood)... I think I will actually try to remember this next time. That is, if all thought isn't overridden by the unending chain of "don'tthrowupdon'tthrowupdon'tthrowup" running nonstop through my head.

Thanks for the tip, Yoda. ;)

5. My husband is 26 and has action figures.
Some guys never grow up. Thankfully he will be having his own "man-room" when we move, so I won't have to look at those grotesque things again.

What kind of action figures?
And are they for display, or does he take them down and play with them?

8. They are for display. And he keeps the packaging.
I don't know what kind they are, but some of them are really gross and disturbing. Some look like monsters and some look like robots. These aren't the kind that kids play with, these are the kind that nerds like to display.

9. Models, not action figures
If he's assembling them himself, they're models. My 30 y.o. fiancee and I love to do Gundam models together, and we have an extensive/Action Figure/Model collection!

12. Yeah, he does those too.
I have a closet full of boxed model kits waiting to be put together.

10. And?
He assembles model action figure for display. If it were model cars or model airplanes, would you have posted a similar question?

He's a special kid. The origin of his social developmental problems is unknown to me; I believe it's a combination of his ADHD and Aspberger's, and his wonderful, loving mother's hideous over-protectiveness. There's probably more.

God willing he will find himself and his maturity soon.

In the meantime, he is fully welcome to be himself and we, his family, do not judge him for his behavior. He is an academic genius, an avowed ABBer, a conscientious environmentalist, a skilled (albeit untrained) musician, and a loving, caring young man.

I don't care what his idiosyncrasies or underdevelopments are. I accept him as he is.

14. I wasn't judging
I just was curious if i read the subject line right. The way you described him being sick, taking him to the hospital, and how he was sitting on the floor assembling action figures made it sound like he was a young child, and i was curious if the 19 was a typo, and was supposed to read 10.

15. okay, peace, no harm, no foul...
I got a little snippy there, and I'm sorry. I'm a tad protective, too. Peace, TXlib.

16. Sokay
I should have explained that when i asked... rereading it, it does look like I'm saying something other than what i intended.

13. Thank you, Scarlet.
I think Chris is back to normal. I just wish he'd eat. I was going to make tacos for dinner; maybe w/ just the right amount of drugs I'll feel well enough but won't cook like I'm drunk! :7

I'm glad to see dancing Jeebus back. What was the frog all about? :)

17. Don't feed the boy tacos!
Take it from somebody who has spent many a day vomiting in the last seven months. You've got to work your way back in to the solids. Maybe some tea and toast, or chicken broth and saltines. If you feed the kid tacos you're likely to hear the hippo sounds again really soon. :)
