It's better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all
That famous line from Lord Tennyson. I learned a few things from this last break-up…

-I'm capable of compassion and feelings.
-I can be a mature adult while feeling my heart break and not have a screaming fit.
-I'm still a good man.
-I can find a good woman.
-An LTR doesn't scare me.

This doesn't mean that I, she, or we did anything wrong. Breakups are never easy, whether you're the heartbreaker or having your heart broken, because that's someone you'll likely never talk to again. 600 miles doesn't make it any easier.

She said that I was handsome, intelligent, and interesting, but not the man for her. That doesn't make me any less of a good man. I would have preferred a clumsy attempt at honesty months ago than the cruel "we gotta talk" call later. Feelings don't obey the rules of logic and I was starting to fall for her. Sometimes, you can make no mistakes, do everything right, and still lose. (Capt. Picard to Data) If she felt pressure instead of desire to call back or leave a message, then it's her obligation to end this.

To borrow from Dr. Phil (I know :hide:) it takes 2 people to have a relationship, it only takes 1 to end it. I have to live with her decision and she has to live with her decision.

Nature, in her infinite variety, has more than one person for me that I haven't yet met. She's there, somewhere.

I have the day off, gotta go walk 2 miles. The final surgeon's appt is next week, no hard workouts 'til I'm cleared.

P.S. The Valentine's Day card came back unopened. :(

2. It seems as though you're well on your way to understanding...
what happened so that you can be healthy before you start your next relationship.

I wish only the best for you, Lurking_Argyle.
