Wow, my elderly neighbor is getting hauled away by an ambulance...
I just got online and they started coming up the steps a minute ago...

She's always sick, sort of one of those people who always cry wolf, but it must be serious now, the police are here too.

I feel so seedy and nosy looking out my window to see what's going on. I better see if there is any other neighbors out there who can tell me if she's ok or not....

2. Don't be nosy
Be a good nieghbor and check on her at hospital.See if she needs assistance with anything or if there is anything you can do to help.
It removes your self from yourself when you help others.

4. oh, I wanted to know if she was alive still, so I wasn't actually
being nosy. I just felt like it. I asked her if she needed help a bit ago and told her to get ahold of me if she needs anything.

The problem is, I have to keep my distance from her. She's an extremely difficult person and has tried to get me kicked out for no reason several times. She's called the police on me in the middle of the night when I was in bed sleeping for several hours. She once came over screaming and knocking on my door at 4am trying to get me to be quiet and pointing at a girl behind me, screaming at her for making noise. Except there was nobody behind me. Let alone some girl. She just flipped out.

So I have learned to be nice, but not too nice, because every time I start getting friendly with her, she starts doing some truly weird and underhanded stuff. Like if I ever did visit her in the hospital, I guarantee she would make my life miserable because of it. Why? I am not sure, but almost every time I am nice to her or do something for her, she ends up trying to get me booted out. Our manager just takes it in stride now, because she knows she has some problems.

5. It sounds like she has
dementia so it's not like she can help her behaviour.

8. It definately sounds like some kind of dementia
Alzheimer's disease can cause changes in behavior. It's best to just play along

7. That was my 85 year old mom last night.
She has C.O.P.D. and was having a very bad time late yesterday afternoon and evening. My brother finally called 9-1-1. He was very impressed with the EMTs and with the level of care she got in the ER. She was admitted and will be in the hospital for a few days. I am driving down there early tomorrow morning.

We went through this same drill last September when I was down there visiting them. Thank goodness they have excellent health insurance (she is a retired teacher and my dad a retired U of Ga professor). But I would be surprised if she lives another six months.

It's weird when that ambulance is sitting in your parents driveway. Like your neighbor, the police came too.
