accommodate your wish.

7. no. i don't see it that way---
maybe a matter of time.
those who have the will know it because of the thrill
they have learned to find thrill where others only see ordinary.
i think it is all in one's perspective.

but, what the fuck do i know...i just muddle through the best i can.

15. OK
thanks for answering. :hi:

I guess I'm jaded by hanging out at the nursing home too much lately. I just don't see much thrill of living there.

no wonder you have got that outlook...

you need this immediately:hug:

do you work days or nights?

i thought of a better way to put what i am trying to say...

once the thrill goes.then the will is not far behind.and after that it is all downhill.
you see it happen.

24. staff in nursing homes are underpaid and over worked
Edited on Thu Feb-22-07 06:29 PM by wildhorses
and get no respect from management. they fix the schedules so that you are working just long enough not to be eligible for unemployment for the week (over 24 hours) but try to keep it where it is hard to get insurance (about 32-36 hours a week) then the premium for insurance is so fucking high it takes another massive bite out of your check. meanwhile the salaried people come in late, take long lunches, leave early and suck up all the fucking money. it is dismal!!

no matter how much you care when your back is broke and your feet are aching you can only do the best you can...it is humanly impossible.

the health care industry is one of the main reasons i despise corporate america.

sorry to rant but, you hit one of my sore spots.

i would not put my dog in a nursing home much less a member of my family...ymmv

25. I don't work there
but thanks for the hug & here's one in return.

I volunteer there, usually 3 days a week. I visit those who have no family nearby. Or family that just doesn't give a shit. I'm the only person they regularly see who isn't paid to be there. No one should have only paid "visitors".

I totally agree with you here:
"once the thrill goes.then the will is not far behind.and after that it is all downhill."

30. Wow..
that is truly a wonderful thing you do.

Working with lots of people with dementia who end up in nursing homes after evil me works with their family to put them there, I'm sure glad there are people like you to visit people that don't have family.

Your stock just rose in my book

23. I'm a hospice volunteer visitor, so I've been to nursing homes.
I know what you're talking about.

Even the ones who aren't actively dying are many times just waiting to die....in sadness and loneliness.

The truth is, we're ALL dying everyday...but it's about how conscious we are through the process. How do we FULLY LIVE, into our dying? Hmmmm....

:hi:

26. Exactly right
"Even the ones who aren't actively dying are many times just waiting to die....in sadness and loneliness."

I'm also a volunteer, but not for Hospice. It's the lonely and sad that I visit every week.

20. Interesting question. There are many ways to answer it.
I answered Yes b/c I believe Life goes on, regardless of WHATEVER happens.

The "thrills of Life" are temporary pleasures. Since we're constantly in the flow of change, Life goes on, whether we're thrilled, or not.

Unless we're dead.

But even then, Life goes on for those left behind.

My two cents.
