You know, double majoring in Biology and English may be the best decision of my life
As I am ending my college career and begin to look for jobs, I am finding that many biotech companies have a strong demand for employees who have backrounds in both a science and in english--which is working out to my advantage. On Monster.com, I am finding a SHIT TON of biotech companies that have tons of jobs for people like me--I am feeling quite confident that as I continue to search for jobs in SLC, Utah, that I will find a perfect job.

I'm running into huge fucking problems getting certified to teach. No one is telling me what I need to do and I'm freaking out-- I NEED a goddamn job x(

edit: why is it so hard for non education majors to teach?

21. They make getting a teaching certificate so damn difficult now...
I'm going back to get my masters in the fall for a program in Health EDUCATION but because I don't have an undergraduate degree in education I still can't get certified to teach. It's almost like they don't want people to become teachers anymore. I went to a school that graduates a high volume of education majors and even they will tell you that the education degree is a joke, yet I have to jump through a million hoops to get my certification.

2. Completely agree. I did English and Physical Anthro
and the combination gave me so many more choices -- not strictly because of anthropology -- but because I had the English training AND the science training. Or, they thought I did.

lol

Good going!

12. 100% real
I swear to god, I thought my SO was kidding me about this, but he showed me one of his parents' garments. Apparently it's worn to give the wearer protection, and there are lots of Mormon "folklores" about how the garments protected the wearer in like a fire or car crash.

See the wiki article on it:

16. LOL, I know right?
I was like "Kyle, you're bullshiting me. There's no way it's real..."

And I was proven wrong.

In a lot of ways, Mormons remind me of Muslims...

19. Sometimes I wish I double majored
My idea for the double major kept on changing though so that I did not even have a minor when my college started offering them my senior year.
I was a biology major. I know work in food processing. I don't recommend that as a career, but it might be better than biotech. I've never worked in biotech. I'm not sure what companies are out there.

20. Good for you
It makes you better educated than the vast majority of people as well, which is nothing to sneeze at. I was a history major in college before I went to med school and I don't regret it at all.

Good luck with the job hunt. :hi:
