1. start with everything powered off

First power on the cable/DSL modem,
once you have activity, power on the router,
then power on one of your PC's on the LAN.

2. Here's the problem...

the setup assistant says not to hook anything up until it's done detecting everything it needs to on the computer it's running on. The thing it needs to detect is the LAN. It's telling me that it's not enabled, but it is, as far as I can tell.
