car question about tinted windshields
Do tinted windshields make it more difficult for the driver to see the road at night?

2. In CA it's illegal to have tinted windshield and front side windows tinted

And everything I just read by doing a google search about your question points to diminished vision at night if the windshiled is fully tinted.

So, would say, yes, it is more difficult to see the road (or anything/anyone else you need to be aware of while driving) at night.

3. You probably shouldn't tint the front window, pimp.

4. I wasn't going to get the windshield of an existing car tinted, but...
...some cars I'm looking into come with tinted windshields.

6. the actual windshield is tinted? I don't think i've ever seen that before
but i would think they couldn't sell a car with a windshield that was unable at night.

7. I bought a car with a tinted windshield several years ago.
I was pulled over, and tried to explain that I bought it that way. The cop said it didn't matter, that they're illegal in all cases. So, I took it to the dealer and complained that they had sold me a car that was illegal to drive. They took the tint off at no charge.

And yes, it was darker at night. Not dangerously so, but you could tell it was darker.

8. In general, tinted windshields are not street legal in all 50 states
but it does depend on what you mean by "tinted". The top 6 inches (to what is called the AS1 line)of a windshield may be tinted (usually bronze) and certain light hues are permissible; most actually have a slight green shade, but other colors are permissible and OEM glass in the US meets Federal standards. Aftermarket tinting is a film applied to the inside of the glass and would be illegal in most states on the windshield, look at the edges on the glass and if you can see un-tinted space it's film and not legal on the windshield.
