When I was little...I wanted to BE 'The Flying Nun'.
But I ended up more like 'Sybil'!

I still remember going into the kitchen and telling my mom 'When I grow up I'm going to be a nun and FLY!!

My mom said "Number 1....you're Jewish and Jews can't be nuns and number 2 with the size of your feet you'll never be able to fly."

I still remember the pain.....

I'm sorry, I hope what your mom said did not diminished your life in any way. But, I just had a great laugh over her response to you.

Mothers do wonders for our self-esteem, don't they?

She denies we ever had that conversation.

6. Reminds me of a story.
I lived in Provincetown, MA off and on for a number of years, out at the end of Cape Cod. P'town is pretty close to being majority gay/lesbian these days, if it hasn't passed that threshold already. It's also a major draw for gay/lesbian visitors. So I'm sitting in this waterfront tourist restaurant one night (good oysters) and I'm kind of listening in on these two fifty-something lesbians sitting at the table next to mine. "Oh," one of them said, "when I was a young girl I wanted to be Doris Day." "Ha," the other one said. "When I was a young girl, I wanted to DO doris day."

7. I wanted to be Jack Tripper.
My parents thought it was 'cute'... (Little did I know how deliciously suggestively filthy that show is... when it comes to bawdy, suggestive is infinitely more witty than explicit...)
