My cat sits on my arm and slobbers.
My almost three year-old cat, Gandalf the Grey, has developed the annoying habit of climbing onto my arm, purring. I began to notice wet spots on my arm. I assumed that he was nursing off my shirt sleeve or my blankets, but a couple of weeks ago I noticed slobber dripping from his mouth - enough that I had to grab a kleenex and wipe it off.

It's disgusting and it immobilizes my right arm so I can't type. Why does my cat slobber?

1. It's called "dry nursing" and it means he finds comfort in your arms
(ain't that sweet). Also, if the blankets or your clothes are wool, he may be trying to suck the lanolin from the wool (one of our males would not leave a flokati rug alone - I finally had to store it away).

3. But he's just drooling.
It's rather odd. He doesn't put his mouth anywhere, he just drools. Like a labrador retriever.

9. If this is new behavior it might be good to get cat checked out.
We had a cat that began drooling, turned out he had (flp? equivelant of cat AIDS). Took him to vet, had IVs, antibiotics and other meds for a week, got better and brought him back home. Some cats just drool, but if 1 that doesn't starts to drool, get it checked out.

2. I once had a cat that liked to drool on my husband's jacket.
He wasn't amused but I thought it was funny as hell. :)

4. It really is gross and uncomfortable.
Having a wet arm while you're in bed relaxing is not my cup of tea. x(

5. You need a towel while kitty is around.
I'm jealous. My husband developed an allergy to cats so I can't have any more. :(
I'd gladly get slobbered on just to have a kitty.

My elderly kitty Axl likes to sleep on my chest and drool on my neck.
Yuck! Plus, he's got old cat stank. Axie is the tuxie. One time he fell
asleep on my shoulder and he snores. Then he started having REM sleep
and began to dream. He was kneading my t shirt and trying to nurse
on my shirt. Awww - I just get cuddly thinking about it. He dreamed
I was mom.

Aww. another person gave me a heart! Thank you whoever it is! When I get mine, 4 of you will get them.

8. My cat does that
Only he likes to drool on my face when I'm trying to sleep. It's disgusting. Can't get mad at him though when he's purring and seems so content.
