Edited on Wed Feb-14-07 09:20 AM by matcom
:woohoo:

HE can't get out of his driveway due to the ice.

1. Is your boss an elderly, Asian woman?
Edited on Wed Feb-14-07 09:16 AM by mikeytherat
'cuz it sounds just like the woman across the street from me - late 80s 300D sedan with Goodyear Eagles (the best snow/ice tire ever!). When we get snow and ice, she routinely wedges her 'Cedes at the top of MY driveway, sideways, and I get to pull her car up the hill. And yes, I am free to give her a hard time as my main car is a rear-drive BMW 7-series with summer tires (I use the Trooper or the Escort wagon in the winter).

3. At least three times each winter, I hear "scrape, whump, sliiiiiiiiiiiiiiide, stop"
and I know what just happened. The last time I was working in my home office with a client when I heard "The Sound." I didn't even look up from my computer - I just said to my client, "Look out the window. There's a dark grey Mercedes, sideways, at the top of my driveway." Sure enough...

5. My office has a 10AM "delayed opening"

But practically no one is here because with freezing rain falling, the drive home looks to be the reall treacherous one.

I got up at my ususal time, looked out the window, and thought, "It's not snowing now, and it's not icy, so why don't I leave now? Traffic will be lighter, and I can leave earlier." I've been here since 8:15AM (passed only four accidents) only a handful of others have shown up.

The latest reports indicate that freezing rain will fall until 3PM, so I'm going to leave at four. It will be easier to deal with the roads being icy if I can see where I'm going!

:headbang:

6. Morning call
Since the Feds was going in two hours late, we would too. But I figured to beat the rush of those who couldn't finds excuses to stay home all day and went in only an hour late. Everyone else in the office had the same idea.

But I had to take the train. It's too slick (and perhaps a tad treacherous) to pedal my horse.

10. I HAVE to come in no matter what
I work at a radio station; we have to be here to tell everyone else to stay home. Drive in wasn't too horrible, though, the roads were plowed just not salted. Now they are and the drive home should be just fine.
