Am I the only one who thinks the football Gods are on the Packers side?
There have been two obvious divine interventions these past two weeks--the first was--How the hell did Minnesota lose???????? There must be something going on with the cosmos.

Then, of course, their victory against Seattle.

I tell you, something is up.

I'm still betting on the Patriots, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the Packers make it to the Super Bowl.

1. Naw, they'll slip up.
Seattle was an equal/slightly inferior team, GB was at home, and they barely won.

The Eagles on the road will provide a much harder test - should the Packers win, I might have to suspect divine intervention.

6. Yes, but they STILL won!
For some reason, the team that goes all the way--in whatever sport--somehow has some miraculous event during the play-offs that helps them, or inspires them. In basevball, it was that incredible out against the Giants in the ninth that sent the Marlins to Chicago, and then to the series.

And something opposite watching over the Vikings. There's no other explanation.

But the cheez will get their asses kicked in Philly, so I'm not worried. It's just two extra weeks of football in the end.

8. Ya gotta think so.
I love my Pack but the defense played sooooo poorly against Seattle until the interception, you've got to wonder if there isn't some devine intervention going on here.

If the same thing happens against Philly, I'll have to make a pilgrimage to Lambeau and make an offering at the shrine of St Vince.

9. Nope, no gods...just dumb luck.
There should have been no way the Vikings should've lost that AZ game. The refs screwed them. As for GB/Seattle game, as you could tell, the Packers got really lucky. No divine intervention there.

I'm all for the Eagles/Titans SB or the Eagles/Indy SB. I hope the Packers lose...not lose...get spanked this week.

Can't see the Titans or Indy maing it--maybe Philly, but somehow they seem to blow it also.

Besides, luck could be intervention in disguise. This week will tell for sure!

14. How exactly did the refs "screw " the Vikings?
The man got shoved out of bounds on the final td of the game. Otherwise he would have landed inbounds. The Packers should have beaten the Eagles the first time and Ahman Green will run wild this week. Pack-28 Eagles-24.

30. The Vikings should have never touched the player catching the
ball. If they hadn't maybe he would have landed out of bounds. The Vikings have only themselves to blame...for poor restraint, and not knowing the rules of the game. Better luck next year.

16. I don't believe in football Gods -- But I do believe in bad Packer jokes
A GREEN BAY PACKER BABY

A Green Bay Packer fan buys a round of drinks for everyone
at the  bar and announces that his wife had just  given birth to
a typical Greenbay Packer sized baby boy who weighed 25
 pounds!

Congratulations showered him from all around,  and many
shouted "WOW!" when they heard the news.  A woman
 faints due to sympathy pains.

Two weeks later, he returns to the bar. The  bartender says,
"Say, you're the father of the typical  Greenbay Packer sized
baby that weighed 25 pounds at birth. How much  does he
 weigh now?"

The proud father answers, "Seventeen pounds."

The bartender is puzzled, and concerned.  "What happened?
He already weighed 25 pounds at birth."

The Packer father takes a slow swig from his  long-neck
MGD, wipes his lips on his shirt  sleeve,  leans into the
 bartender and proudly says...

 "Had him circumcised!"

 GO PACKERS!

21. I've got a better one...
On a tour of Minnesota, the Pope took a couple of days off his itinerary to visit Lake Superior on an impromptu sightseeing trip. His 4X4 Pope mobile was driving along the beautiful shoreline when there was an enormous commotion heard just off the headland. They rushed to see what it was and upon approaching the scene, the Pope noticed in the water a hapless man wearing a Green Bay football jersey, struggling frantically to free himself from the jaws of a 12 foot sturgeon.
At that moment a speedboat containing three men wearing Viking football jerseys roared into view from around the point.

Spontaneously, one of the men took aim and fired a harpoon into the sturgeon' ribs, immobilizing it instantly. The other two reached out and pulled the Wisconsin man from the water and then, using long clubs, beat the fish to death. They bundled the bleeding, semi-conscious man into the boat along with the dead sturgeon and then prepared for a hasty retreat when they heard frantic shouting from the shore.

It was the Pope and he summoned them to the beach. After they reached shore, the Pope went into raptures about the rescue and sid, "I give you my blessing for your brave actions. I had heard that there were some bitter hatred between the people of Wisconsin and Minnesota, but now I have seen with my own eyes this is not true. I can see that your society is a truy enlightened example of true harmony and could serve as a model on which other states could follow." He blessed them all and drove off in a cloud of dust.

As he departed, the harpooner asked the others, "Who was that?"

"That," one answered, "was his Holiness the Pope. He is in direct contact with God and has access to all of God's wisdom.

"Well," the harpooner replied, "he knows nothing about Sturgeon fishing. "Is the bait holding up or do we need to get another one?"

some lucky breaks, an easy schedule and good coaching. at the bye week break the Packers were 3-4. Mike Sherman retoooled his team towards the running game. they finished 7-2, the defense improved their pass rush and 3rd down play and started gettting more turnovers.Last Sunday they stuck with that formula to win. Hass played very well to keep Seattle in there.

EDIT to add: team chemistry after Irv Favre's death also a contributing factor.

BTW, I was at Lambeau last Sunday and the fans were hoping for some intervention there in OT. It was awesome! Go Pack!!

To be honest, I'm not even concerned w/ Green Bay. Phillie is going to take the NFC.

I *AM* however, a little worried about Indianapolis, and then Phillie.

What I like most about the Pats, though, is that they are going to be on their own turf, AND they always play the games one at a time. I may be looking towards the Super Bowl, but right now, they're only thinking about Tennessee.

40. It just seemed like a bad time for it to happen--coming so close to the
end of the season, and it being a pivotal game.

Still, I would have to pick Philly to win the NFC--St. Louis can't win at Philly, although the Packers might. I really think this weekend's game between the two will settle who's going to the Super Bowl. I don't think Carolina has a shot.

That happened with the Tampa Bay games and the San Francisco game - in the San Francisco game, he shouldn't have waited until overtime to roll McNabb out of the pocket. But the Eagles came back strong the next week, so I don't worry about it more than St. Louis' choke.

And I'm more worried about the Packers game than a Rams matchup. Farve is playing inspired football, so you never know. I think that more upsets of the home team happen in the first round, though, and I'd like to think the Eagles will finally go to the Super Bowl this year, so I'm predicting the Eagles. But in my head, I know Green Bay has a decent chance.

None of the other teams seem to have divine intervention or luck on their side, and since the Patriots are the most talented, they're sure to at least make it to the Super Bowl.
