A MAN repeatedly stabbed another man in the face and head with a broken tree branch following a fight in a Brisbane bar, a court was told today.
Troy Laurence Jaillet, 31, of Brisbane, today pleaded not guilty in the Brisbane District Court to two counts of common assault, and one count each of wilful damage and grievous bodily harm, with an alternative charge of assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed.
The court heard the victim afterwards underwent several operations, including procedures to stop his eye socket "falling down''.
The October 6, 2005, incident began in the Tinbilly Travellers Bar on the corner of George and Herschel streets in central Brisbane, the court was told.
Crown prosecutor Cedwynn Toweel said a scuffle broke out between Mr Jaillet and Adrian Sugden, 27, who was at the bar with his friend 31-year-old Bradley Miller.
After the security officers broke up the fight Mr Sugden and his friend walked to nearby North Quay.
Mr Jaillet meanwhile punched a reinforced glass window panel at the Holmes Institute on Herschel Street, shattering it.
Mr Toweel said Mr Jaillet then hid behind bushes on North Quay and as the other two men walked past, jumped out with a 25cm-long tree branch.
''(Mr Miller says the defendant said) 'I am going to f****** stab you' and kept repeating it,'' Mr Toweel said.
