Kidding. :D

to both of you: :loveya:

Seriously, though, to both of you: it has been very warming (heart thingy and all of that) to read about your life developments over the year that have been so joyous. I appreciate both the commentary, and the glimpses into the evolutions in your lives. Thanks for the vicarious moments of joy.

18. lol - just the other day
someone responded to a post per "Indianans" wasn't sure if it was a recognition of the old joke - or a akward moment of "what do we call people from Indiana?" Gave me a chuckle, nonetheless.

As crazy as he drove me, I hope that Carlos is doing okay.

15. I have been trying - of late
to be a little more participatory. Though you will mostly find me late evening or early morning in LBN or GD. Funny how if one is here long enough one migrates from time to time per where one spends time. Always been a big reader of LBN and OPED forums - but have migrated from time to time between the other front page forums.

Sorta odd being an "old timer" - the forum is SO large now that even if we are all still posting, if the timing is off we don't "see" each other if our timing is off (as the forums move so fast b/c of the number of posters.) Both of ya'll outdate me. Heck, Uly, I don't know if I ever told you this - but back in the days when 'hundreds' posts were marked... no one ever noted my little benchmarks until 1,000 - and while I watched other posters who came in around the same time be "celebrated" (granted this is when we were under 10,000 registrations - indeed the # of registrations wasn't yet shown) there was *someone* who recognized my 1,000 post. And that was you, Uly. After sorta feeling like I generally spoke but noone ever heard... that thread made me feel like *someone* heard - and if *anyone at all* was listening, I might as well keep speaking/writing. It meant something big to me. And I thank you.

I can only imagine that when the forum is as large as it is today, that it must feel like - to some - that it takes SO long to be recognized (where other responders begin to feel like 'conversation respondants') that many give up. It takes so much longer to be 'recognized' by 'friends' these days.

On the other hand, while I can post and post and because i don't post too frequently it can at times harken back to the "is anybody there... does anybody care (what I have to say)" (stealing words from a song from the 1776 musical) - I then suddenly find both new correspondants (yea) or cross paths with long-time DU friends - and those exchanges are SO gratifying.

What is the point? Both a special thanks and recognition to a small act from you, Uly, years ago which meant so much to me at the time - and a commentary on both how much I appreciate conversing with those who I have "talked with"on DU for years and whose different perspectives I 'get' due to the conversations over the years - and to recognize how hard it must be for folks who come to DU when the community is more than 10X the size that it was when we first "met."

5. hi, Salin
you must have me mixed up with someone else.

the womam i asked to marry me last year me pulled off her mask to reveal what psycho she was 3 weeks after we moved in together, and i had to kick her out. without going into ugly details, it's been a tough year for me.

but thanks for keeping me in your thoughts. :loveya:

16. No I don't have you mixed up with someone else... I just missed
the nightmare part of the story. :-( Clearly we don't talk enough. How did I miss that?!?! So sorry about that.

3 weeks - YIKES. Sometime you have to tell me the story.

Sorry about the rough year. And whether you like it or not, I will continue to keep you in my thoughts - regardless of how "cagey" you might be :D :loveya:

24. I can understand that (not sharing the details)
but I was really stuck on 'celebrating' with you. Instead I will shift to solidarity with you per getting back your old life. (really need a fist per solidarity emoticon).

Sorry that it apparently shifted so quickly, and so badly.

17. We have a few things in common...
My husband passed away from Hodgkin's Disease, and I adopted a special needs child. That oughta clear up any intrigue. :-)
