Has there been a recent National Guard mobilization?
We have a family friend (and I use the term loosely) who is all hepped up about going to Iraq to "fight for his country." Keep in mind, this guy has invented an entire "secret" military history that was conveniently destroyed in a fire, which also later necessitated him buying his own uniform when he was sent over to fight Saddam mano-a-mano.

Anyway, he claims he's being mobilized as of 27 Jan 2004 "out of Philadelphia", which could be anywhere from Fort Dix to Adak, Alaska.

However, his mother, his wife, his children, and the patriotic Americans who depend on his bum leg keeping him out of the way of real soldiers are scared to death that he really might be sent to fight in "The Big One."

My question: Is there a really-for-real mobilization going on right now amongst the Guard? The date of the orders might be around 1-5 Jan 2004, with a report date of 27 Jan 2004.

Please ... only you can help keep a schiozphrenic out of our nation's fighting forces!

At least he's not claiming he's going as a Navy SEAL -- this time.

1. No National Guard -but I know of a guy who was reinstated to active duty..
after he finished his reserves stint. After 6 years they showed up at his door and told him to report as he hadn't 'finished' the time he signed up for.

He's leaving soon to report again. So much for his job as a police officer and his family he now has.

And people don't think things are scary here????

2. Yes, here in Maine anyhow
A large group just left this weekend.

Right now there are more Guard troops from Maine on active duty than at any time since WWII.
