4. I don't know yet. I haven't had a video ipod before.
Of course, I will have no problem filling this one with music, since I have 161.9gbs of music on my itunes, so far. I still have more of my collection tp upload.

It's a sickness. :D

7. I have a 60GB with the same problemll
My almost 4K of songs off CDs take up 9GB and my Podcasts have grown to 6GB and I am still below 20GB in total space used. I almost never use the video as it sucks the battery too fast.

Give me a 20GB Nano and everything would work fine now.

11. $350.00, and I probably won't use it for video, heh.
They're $350 everywhere. The prices are all the same, and they never go on sale.

I've already got so much music on it that I doubt I'll use it for video unless I'm getting on a plane and I want to upload a movie to watch on the flight.

Even if I never use it for video, the screen is damned nice. :)

15. Nope. Sorry.
The specs are probably on the Apple site. I mean, obviously it will hold up to 80gbs for video if you don't put any music on it.

18. I have never known
how much an hour takes up on one of those things. What I'm trying to figure out is how many episodes of a show I can squeeze onto one. For example, can I get a whole season of a show on there, or just a few episodes?

16. Once you start using it, I think you might get hooked. :)
I find food shopping to be much more enjoyable with an ipod. I use it in my car with an adaptor and I don't have to drag CD's around anymore. I use it to walk to work. I use it to work out. I use it walking around town. I use it on the subway, at the mall (it was great for Christmas shopping, very peaceful), in crowds.

I think I just don't like most people and would prefer to listen to music rather than interact with them. :) And it keeps people from panhandling you, because you can't hear them.

NO matter how improbable, I always seem to part with whatever spare change I have. :dunce: I think once it's warm enough to run again the iPod will come in handy.

24. You clearly don't live in a big city.
If I listened to every panhandler that approached me, I'd never go anywhere or do anything. Heh. I particularly dislike the ones who make up a whole elaborate story about how they have to get to North Philly because their sister's in the hospital and all they need is two dollars for the El, blah blah, I'm like, DUDE. Have some balls and say, "Yo, got any spare change?" You're much more likely to get something from me that way. And I always give the guy who holds the door for me at Wawa my change. There is one guy at 30th and Market who stands in the intersection and just gestures for 2 dollars, over and over. 2 dollars. I guess it's inflation.

My brother can't stand sitting around listening to the ol' "$2 for the bus/parking ramp/whatever," so he has a series of lines holstered to scare off any derelicts. But I seem to always be drawn in...

17. Check stuff out from the library
and import it into your ipod.

I got a few books for airplane rides that way. My library has music, too, but most is pretty lame (I guess the good stuff was stolen long ago).

There is a way to "rip" dvd moview into the iPod, but I haven't tried it yet.

http://www.ilounge.com - but if you ask a dumb question there, it morphs from "lounge" to "general discussion". So wear a thick skin.

34. Yes, books on CD
I should have mentioned that. I've used books on tape too, but it's a more involved process, more of a PITA.

And, if you have a portable computer, you can import the CD's to itunes in the library, don't even need to check them out. I've done that with some music. Sample a few tracks, and if I like it, import the cd.

He loves the little tiny clippy thing he got for Christmas - he wears it to the gym, and it holds all his favorite Clash stuff.

But he's not sure what to do with the "big" iPod.

Interesting that someone suggested downloading Books on CD....

I have enough music to fill at least a 60 gig, but my computer doesn't have 60 gigs to spare, and I would like to put everything on there at once instead of constantly replacing songs with other ones.

I've got 161.9 gigs on there so far and I have a lot more to upload. It was necessary to get another hard drive, it never would have fit on my laptop. That drive only cost me $160 at Best Buy.

Unless you plan on using the video function a lot or you're primate1, there's no way to fill all that up and actually listen to everything.

Edited on Mon Jan-22-07 07:53 PM by fujiyama
I helped her load several bands' discographies, as well as two or three seasons of "Sex and the City" and it still came to only 15gb or so.

It's a really cool toy. That thing will take a long time to fill up. I agree the screen really is slick. I also was surprised how simple it is to convert divx movies to the iPod video format.

I'm not sure how the battery life is for video usage. I would assume it would draw it pretty quickly (much quicker than if you are using it just for music). Plus, I'm not sure how useful the video function actually is, unless you use public transportation for your commute...or frequently travel. A buddy of mine said the video function is cool while working out. He says he watches Star Trek episodes at the gym.

After all, I hope no one is watching episodes of TV shows while driving. God knows, people are so damn distracted already.
