Okay, so it's not a hurricane or anything even remotely as severe, BUT, it is snowing here in central VA and there is a better than average chance that I will have to wait in line for a cart at Ukrop's when I rush to the store to pick up enough milk and bread to last until the next millennium.

(Hey, it's what we do here in Richmond)

Anyway. Thoughts?

Didn't think so. :(

10. No but Channel 12 said it would be nothing significant
at least the morning guy did (Jim Duncan and his whole crew get so many different forecasts that it is impossible to nail them down on just one) which means that from past history I should be going home at about 3 PM

:bounce:

Channel 6 is by far the most accurate in the city even if they only send their low-man-on-the-totem-pole across the street for the outside report (Mactavish ave.)

Bernier has an spooky good knowledge of the local road systems.

16. LOL. I know. I figured with them all saying it is not going to amount
to anything that I should start battening down the hatches.

I'll never forget waking up in Jan. 1995 to an absolute blizzard that had caught them 'off guard'. :wtf:

5. Awesome, yet expensive, family run grocery store.
Delicious fried chicken (not breaded in corn flakes, not a fat actress to be seen ANYWHERE), and really great sides.

I go a lot on Fridays to get fried chicken and mac salad, potato salad, green salad, etc. for the weekend.

Downside. They don't sell beer or wine, so it's another stop if I want to imbibe.

...it can't be as bad as what Pennsylvania has. You can't even buy beer in the same store as wine & liquor

14. LOL. When I moved here, almost 16 years ago, I went to the
nearest store K-Mart, to find some mini blinds to install.

And, a little backstory, when I moved here, there was absolutely NOTHING for miles, now it is a shopper's paradise,

but, I was wandering through the store because in my town in CT, we didn't have K-Mart, so although I was familiar with it, I wasn't sure where anything was, etc.,

I couldn't believe it when I got to the check out and there was a display of wine. Blew me away.

In CT, at least when I lived there and it might be the same still, you had to go to the package store and they closed at 8. Grocery stores sold beer, but again, only until 8.

Now, I can get beer/wine at WaWa or even CVS 24 hours a day. Weird.

19. And to top it off, you can't buy booze in CT on Sundays.
This has lead to many a Saturday night stock-up trip in the summers. Doesn't the governor realize that my stepsister and I require mass amounts of Corona to lay on the beach?

Or perhaps if you put 'playing practical jokes on my daughter' on the backburner you could perhaps find another 5 minutes in your week to do it

42. we've still yet to have snow here in Connecticut
though, we might get a massive 1-3" tomorrow morning. The meteorologists here in CT must be orgasming over this "snow event" because in most winters, they normally like to get everybody in a panic about this week's upcoming "Storm of the Century!!" (if it's not Storm of the Century, it will be "Killer Storm" or "Death Storm")

44. Some of the local news stations...
act like we're Floridians who see snow once every decade or so... I mean, the local NBC affiliate in Hartford seems to go to round-the-clock storm coverage any time there is more than a stiff breeze outside...they'll warn viewers to make sure they stock up on vital supplies and to make sure we dress warmly. Yet, I have lived in CT for 40 years and cannot remember a time where we didn't have access to basic things like water, milk & bread for any length of time. We lost power for a while during the infamous ice storm in the early 70s, but we had food & water. And, don't get me started on telling us to dress properly for the weather...
