I thought she was the b-___ that ruined my 3rd grade life. I mean how do you impress the girls when there are people calling you Nellie Olsen! (We read the whole series in 3rd grade, really a good idea of books to read when you live on the prairie as I did in the 3rd grade in Oklahoma!)
Katherine MacGregor was the strongest actor on the show, at least in the top three talents. She was such a good....PITA. Reminds me of 99/9% of the pita that I know.
I feel bad for her and proud of her at the same time. She was sexually abused as a child while she was on the series but later in life she was able to heal and find herself again. As with most abused children she kept it to herself for a long time before confronting it. Now she's a strong advocate for abused children and a very strong supporter for the AIDS cause.
29. I saw her on one of those "where are they now" type shows
She said growing up most boys did not want to date her because she was Nellie Olsen....but some boys really wanted to date her because she was Nellie Olsen, which was far more terrifying.
25. I hated that she stole that kids' medal and pushed him in the lake and
pounded his hands with her shoes, then set the groundskeeper on fire when he figured it out and her piano playing sucked hard......wait I'm thinking of The Bad Seed. Nevermind.
In 6th grade we had to do a project that involved recording ourselves on a cassette tape. Apparently, on tape in 6th grade, I sounded exactly like Nelly Olsen. Enough that I had to endure the nickname until the 8th grade. Wow. That must me why I still can't watch the Family Channel reruns. I completely forgot (blocked out) that.
