Well, they've taken my car...
The insurance company, that is. It got totaled the other day  (but not my fault...it was an uninsured driver that hit my parked car) and dragged to God Knows Where by some towing company. Then, I had to fax over a signed release so my insurance company could take the car...probably to a salvage yard.

Now my friend just told me that I SHOULD HAVE CLEANED OUT MY CAR!!!:scared: Like, when!?! Nobody even mentioned that to me and I guess I thought I would eventually be given a chance to do it. So I just find this out and of course it's too late to call my agent and I'm freakin' out.

Can I ever get my stuff back?

No, nothing of value really...THAT I KNOW OF. :scared:

I seriously don't know what all was in that car (yes, I am a Car Slob). There were things in that trunk that haven't seen the light of day in many months.

I THINK I got all the important stuff out the night of the accident...but it was really dark and I couldn't see much of what I was doing. Now I'm pissed. Couldn't a single person somewhere during this fiasco (of course I dealt with several) have mentioned that I needed to visit the car and clean it out? Am I just expected to know what to do via psychic premonition? I've never been through this before...how the hell was I supposed to know?!? :grr:

4. the best learning is done by experience.
and if anything were truly valuable, you would have realized it by now.

also, now you can take the opportunity to be thankful that you weren't hurt:)

5. Fuckin' uninsured pieces of shit.
Yeah, I know we had a big old thread on this a while back, with a lot of silly handwringing from some about how poor people can't afford car insurance, blah blah blah fuckoff blah, but seriously - there's no reason for riding without insurance, unless you forgot to pay the bill or you're a dick.

7. Yeah, I was pissed. But I have uninsured driver's insurance so
the fact that he was uninsured dropped my deductible from $1,000 to $250. :)

8. Learn from my experience!
Stay on top of how long they are keeping your car parked in that salvage yard! My husband had a similar episode, his car being totalled by an underinsured driver. The car sat in a salvage yard for weeks before the adjuster came to check it out, and our insurance company tried to deduct many hundreds of dollars worth of storage fees from the amount they were reimbursing us. We fought them-- the whole thing was a major mess-- and finally had it resolved in arbitration.

9. Well, I'll check that out. I've got Geico...they seen to be pretty
fair and professional. They have already had the adjuster look at it, and have towed it out of the original place it was taken to. But thanks for the head's up!
