Patton
is just beginning on AMC.

Am I the only one who loves this movie?

I like the music the most.

1. I don't love it....
It was probably George C. Scott's finest performance. I'm not in love with the movie, though. Sorry.

2. I saw it when I was very young for the first time...
And I like it for that reason. Memories. And I love the Karl Malden character. One thing they do show in the movie is the GI standpoint. Patton is shown for what he was quite well, IMO. I think they show war to be the hell misery dirty bloody nasty killing awful horrid waste it is...actually just by showing his love affair with it.

3. Very good movie...
it's in my top ten.

As someone who enjoys strategy, I very much enjoy that movie.

5. It is an excellent movie.
I don't know which is my favorite part. When he tries to get the strafing planes to shoot him in the nose...or when he has to apologize to the soldiers after dissing the so-called "coward".

I like the German parts too. I'm a war movie buff anyhow. My parents were teenagers living in England and Wales during that war..and I was brought up hearing some pretty scary stories...

4. As a student of WWII history, I really enjoy this movie.
Patton is not my favorite human being of all time, but he was very good at his job. Whatever his numerous faults, his skills as a military commander are obvious and impressive.

That said, "A Bridge Too Far" and "The Longest Day" are better movies.

6. OMG
I LOVE both those movies. My Welsh uncle was at D-Day plus 2. He lost his thumb...which wasn't bad I guess seeing what could have happened. But he would never talk about it. He is no longer alive now.

But I remember as a child (fascinated by WWII even then) and asking him. He looked down at me and smiled..."No girlie," he said. " "Some things you don't want to know."

I will never forget his face as he said that. I was so young, but remember it still.
