Moral Theology

Adultery is wrong because injustice
is done to the beloved. Fucking has nothing
to do with it. We don't fuck, anyway. Winging
it, maybe, Lilith to Eve. This is stern stuff:
the boundaries breaking your voice, your mouth on
my mind—wildfire eyes! The sisters are doing
it for themselves, uh-huh, uh-huh, Aretha sings.
belts out infraction. Will we be hauled over, roughed

up, forbidden to meet? Lord, we have tarried,
sinned. We have made life hell for a fellow man.
We have touched the nerve of God. Here in the bar
of justice I sit, drinking a bloody mary.
Are you at the Art Institute, Magdalen?
Is God's black hole sucked on a frozen star?
