Can't find a Nintendo Wii so he buys a !@#$%^ Playstation 3!
Edited on Sat Dec-16-06 06:50 PM by Pacifist Patriot
Darnit and blast it to hell. I have been quietly gleeful for the last month that my husband has been unable to put his hands on a Nintendo Wii. Son of a gun calls a few minutes ago to tell me he lucked into a 60 Gig PS3. Some moron was returning it because he had meant to buy a Wii and bought a PS3 by mistake. How in the hell do you do that?

I'm selling it on eBay. I am so sick of electronic games in this house and the penises who live here squabbling for play time. Computer, GameBoy, GameCube, PS1, PS2, PSP...when is it going to STOP?!

Okay, rant over. Thank you. Thank you very much.

ETA: *sigh* See response #4. I guess my sense of humor is lost on the crowd. I thought "penises who live here" and "rant over" would be enough of a clue that I wouldn't seriously sell my husband's toy out from under him. Pass this one on by folks. It's a dud. Frankly, I find it a bit ironic that he wasn't able to get a Wii but was able to acquire a PS3. Isn't it supposed to be the other way around? And doesn't anybody find it bizarre that someone bought a PS3 by mistake?!

4. Sounds like you have a problem, not them.
Just because you're not into games, doesn't mean they shouldn't play games.

And I'd kill anyone who ebayed off anything I purchased without my permission.

5. WHOA! I'm kidding! I wouldn't seriously sell it out from under him.
Yes, I've been happy the darned things have been unavailable, but geez. "the penises who live here..." isn't a clue that this is a bit tongue-in-cheek? Yikes!

6. It's either a clue that you're being tongue in cheek or that you think it's appropriate...

to refer to people by the name of their genitalia, which is pretty sexist.

7. Totally sexist. It's how a mom of three boys gets through the day.
Turn me into the PC police. I give up.

9. *sigh* It's a joke.
It's not one I use often, but it's a joke. And yes, every once in awhile my husband will make a comment that I'm the "token tits" in the house. Is that how we routinely refer to one another? Absolutely not. It's meant to be light-hearted and totally teasing.

Damn I wish I'd never posted this evening. I honestly didn't think the Lounge would generate such serious responses. I guess you never know.

10. It's okay...I have a sense of humor and am in no way offended.
I thought your post was funny and cute. I also think video game addicts should be required by law to attend therapy.

That was a joke.

16. Pacifist.....I think it's funny.
I totally understood what you were saying and I don't think it's the least bit offensive. In fact, I rather appreciated your story. I've had to take up some of these games just to get quality time with the men in my family - of all ages.

But, I guess we don't all have the same sense of humor. Personally, some of the non-PC stuff makes me laugh the hardest. Including non-PC things about myself. Hell, would we even have stand-up comedy if people had to be PC 100% of the time? I think not. I once saw George Carlin live and he warned the audience that at some point during his routine, every single person in the crowd would be offended. And he was right! I was offended at a portion, but spent the rest of the time laughing my ass off.

To each their own. Thanks for sharing.

22. Hey, JVS - I have known Pacifist Patriot for years, and I've known her
outside of DU.

She is very much NOT sexist. She does live in a houseful of testosterone, though, and her boys are at rambunctious ages. Cut her some slack.

I could "hear" the tone of voice she would have used if she'd said it out loud.

13. The vaginas who live with me are always on Ebay
I'll have them look for your auction. I'd like a PS3, that is if there is anymore money left after they buy all those aprons, dust rags and massengill.

17. My dear PP, I'm surprised that your Husband translator is off. When he said that he bought it by
mistake, he meant that he was going to try to get the Wii at 250ish, but got the chance to buy a PS3 at 650 and he got caught up in the excitement and spent the extra 400 bucks since he could be one of the lucky few to get one. Since he had to come home and explain it to you, he said it was a mistake. There's no way it was a legit mistake. Trust me, I'm a husband and I would have done the same thing. :-)

My husband lucked into it because someone else bought it by mistake and was returning it. My husband knew exactly what he was doing.

18. Well, I totally understand your rant.
I knew you were kidding (if on the square). We own all of that shit and I wish they would stop making
"New and Improved" ones - what a racket! There's a new system every other year and NONE of the old stuff is compatible AND
it's all RIDICULOUSLY expensive.

Plus, I thought the Wii was like $250 and the PS3 was more like $600 - that's a BIG damn difference! So even if you were really annoyed by that, I'd understand.

I kid my guys around here about it too. Fortunately, nobody takes me seriously. Sorry you got flamed!

19. Thing about the PS3 is: It isn't a game system.
Sony already has a PS4 under development. The PS3, they've said, is really meant to be the hub for a home theater system.

I had nothing to do with it.

I've seen the demo disk and the sports stuff does look like it would get the kids up off their duffs and moving around a bit.

25. My son said to tell you
that the penises in your household are lucky mo-fos to get a PS3 because they are impossible to get now. My son is a Game Art and Design student in SF. He wonders why the guy returning the PS3 didn't put it on eBay and collect a wad. He said the PS3 with a couple games are going for about $2,000'ish on eBay.
