1. I'm off to the theater with my 13 year-old
who is certain the movie will suck, but that doesn't meant the book isn't really good, so don't judge the book by the movie dad

From the previews I've seen it looks like a rip of LOTR, at least the special effects look that way.

4. The book was written by a teenager, yes.
I've never read it myself; every review I've seen says it's just a pack of cliches.

6. I really wasn't that impressed with the book
The sequel was even worse, I don't think I even finished it. That said, I'll probably end up watching it when it comes on DVD.
