Who here doesn't have any holiday decorations up at home?
I'm not really a grinch or anything like that, I just am too lazy to put stuff up. I have a tree and decorations and all that jazz, but when I have put anything up, it seems like 2 days later it's time to take it down.

My family and friends call me a scrooge, but they never visit anyway. I have no kids or anyone "special". I don't wake up on Christmas morning to presents or..well, nothing. Why would I festivize (bush word) my house?

Anyone else like that? Not really if you don't do anything at all, I mean the people who do some celebrating, but just not at home.

1. Putting up holiday decorations would require me to pick up the mangled decorations
after my cats were done beating the crap out of them

On one of my families move (when I was 10), it was December. We had a half-assed decorated house that year.

Moving on Saturday. Daughter and SIL will be out of town. Just the two of us this year. Normally our house looks like a snowman explosion at this time of year.

6. I think that once my kids are grown and gone, I will probably not
bother with any of it. I'm pretty lazy myself, but I go through the motions with a tree, stockings, advent calendar, etc. for the kids' sake. I do enjoy the way everything looks when it's all done, but I totally hate taking everything down and putting it away again. When they're not here, I doubt if I'll keep doing it.

Sincerely,
Bunny (Ebenezer)Scrooge

14. I would pay you to take mine down
I foolishly offered to host my book club's holiday meeting tonight which meant I had to decorate yesterday. Took all afternoon and evening and putting it away is worse. If you're in Ann Arbor, MI the first weekend in January, you've got a job....:D

28. hey Ebeneezer!
I am just getting started with the decorating. I finally threw away a few pumpkins from the steps and took down the Indian corn!

I never really get in the mood until about the 15th. We are doing the advent calendar and I did buy some white pine, holly and a wreath. I really love the greenery. We probably will get the tree this weekend - the husband and kid enjoy trimming it. And I now have the extended family X-mas eve dinner here. I still have a ton of stuff to bring up from the basement, but I don't do that til we get the tree.

We have lights in the house that we have up permanently - and the dining room looks really pretty when we have dinner.

I always thought it would be cool to just have freinds over for holiday dinner, though. We used to do that with some old bandmates when the kids were little.

22. I do holiday decorations professionally.
I start up just before Halloween and, by the time December rolls around, I am knee deep in red bows, wreaths, glass balls, and glitter - the last thing I want to do is go home and decorate! It's a really exceptional year when I manage to get a little Charlie Brown Xmas weed up in the living room. In fact, I do Halloween up big and then just leave my decorations up past New Year. :)

Why? Because no one ever comes to my house for Christmas. I always go to either my mom's or my sister's. So why bother? I live alone and I don't think my cat really cares one way or the other.

But then again, I'm moving on Dec. 28th, so what's the point?

I did, however, set up a little Christmas tree at my friend's house. She wanted a Christmas tree...even though she's Jewish. Don't ask me why. But I decorated it in silver and blue, so it's our Christmanukkah tree! ;)

35. Well ....
I do have a eucalyptus wreath on my front door. I have 2 tiny trees (one is rosemary and smells delish) - the other an evergreen on my mantle. I have loads of ornaments - but don't feel like hauling them down from the garage rafters. I think since my daughter isn't living here any longer, the urge to decorate has kinda fizzled out.

39. That would be ME.
I do have icicle lights on the railing outside my apartment and in my living room window, but the ones outside stay up all winter and the ones indoors are pretty much permanent, so I don't consider those Christmas decorations. I have a winter wreath on the front door, and that's it.

I used to be the world's biggest Christmas elf, but not anymore. Too many family members and friends gone as well as other losses to feel like celebrating much these days.

I just can't get into the whole holiday thing, this year especially. I just bought a llama from Heifer International--that's my Christmas gift to my officemates this year. Why buy crap they'll never use when you can put that money toward something that someone somewhere can use?

After my dad died when I was 13, I was always the one who put the tree up and decorated for me and my mom. I also did it when I was single.

You know what? I'm f'in tired, reprehensor doesn't wanna do it, and with MS, I like to save my energy for more important things.

For this year, bah humbug.

42. none here
it's just my partner and I. We don't have company for the holidays. The only place to decorate is the livingroom and it's too cold to sit in there to "enjoy" the pretty lights.

To heat up the livingroom to a comfortable temp means cranking up the heat and this turns the rest of the house into saunas.

the only "nod" to the holidays is my partner lighting the Menorrah, and I hang my childhood stocking on the kitchen door.

I stack the gifts to one side of the dining room, and that's it. I have no children, so that's not a big deal. IMO, Christmas is for the kids, New Year's is for the grown-ups.

knows how to get the clearly marked "Christmas decorations" boxes down from the attic or to string lights on a tree.

I feel guilty every day looking at the tree but it has been an absolute hell week for me and I just haven't had the time to do it.
