It's gotta get better
Edited on Wed Dec-13-06 10:09 AM by Lurking_Argyle
because, if you think about (but not too much), the worst has happened, and you're still here!

:woohoo:

I have to get an operation (hernia repair), my new GF got a new job in DC and will be moving in the coming weeks, so she won't be around for me, and, as of this moment, I don't know what the hell I'll do about it. I'll worry once I get scheduled.

:P

2. Take a week off after the surgery
stock up on movies or books that you haven't been able to get to, and plan to catch up on sleep, too.

Sorry about the girlfriend moving! That sucks!

3. I plan on it
my brother had the work done over the summer, and he's all the happier for it.

The Fates have a crappy sense of humor. I finally got a girlfriend, so someone can help look after me, and she's preparing to move away. My parents are not in good health and looking after themselves is work enough.

5. Late breaking news
just got a call from the surgeon's office. There's an opening this coming Monday, (no kidding! :wow:) but I'd be out of service through the holidays and I can't help my parents or GF pack and move. My brothers are slackers and very undependable when it comes to helping the parents--that's a long story, too.

I guess I'll have to pass for next week and wait for January, like the original plan. :(

6. Contact the hospital
Edited on Wed Dec-13-06 11:08 AM by lizziegrace
talk to a social worker. Explain your situation. There may be options out there to get you to and from the hospital and to help out, at least during the first few days.

Good luck!

7. Thank you for the kind thought
but I can't be out of service and laid up during the holidays, esp. now and without an SO. I have to be functional and able to move, walk, and carry. Transportation would be the least of my worries.

10. More breaking news
procedure is scheduled for Jan 10 afternoon, just waiting for the anesthesiologist appointment. That call will be later today, scheduled for a week prior.

Gotta get repaired, but... :scared:

12. Wish it was that easy
yes, it is WAY past time for them to be useful.

They aren't blind, they know the parents don't get around like they used to. I may have to remind them.
