but not really need it. THat is the true answer to cell phone happiness. Needing to be available for work at any given minute bites and is not what the cell phone was intended for (regardless of what 'history' says).

I credit our cell phones as being the secret to a happy marriage. So many hurt feelings and misunderstandings of pre-cell-phone marriage are alleviated by having instant communications. It really is wonderful.

Of course, there are down sides (stinkin leash...<grumble>)

No cell phone=opportunity to leave town for the day w/ no way for any of them to contact me. (Except work got smart and gave me a pager.)
