3. I may have shared your opinion
if the Beatles continued to kick ass into their 60's. My heartfelt opinion is that the Stones were at the very least, the equal of the Beatles professionally and musically in 1970. Now - 33 years later? Rock on Mlawson!!!!!

4. The thing abouth the Beatles vs. the Stones is...
...that although the Beatles went in alot of interesting musical directions, if we are talking strictly rock 'n' roll the Stones are in a league of their own.

There is no question the Stones are the greatest rock 'n' roll band of all time.

7. Then why did they release Britannic Majesty's Request in 1967?
Was that not an attempt to get in on the sensation caused by Sgt Peppers??? I don't know how old you are, but I remember when Sgt Peppers was first released -- "sensation" is wallowing in understatement!!! That was a DEPARTURE! And it's still my favorite album of all time; I have worn out three of them.

8. I'm so old that my
Sgt Peppers LP is in Mono. I loved the Beatles, but when it comes to Rock and Roll the Beatles were no Rolling Stones.

10. I believe the album was "Her Satanic Majesty's Request"
as the response to Sgt. Pepper...

"...it's so very lonely, you're 10,000 light years from home..."

13. I don't disagree
The Beatles were a remarkable musical group, not to mention a cultural phenomenon that I think will remain unequalled in my lifetime. My statement was in no way intended to minimize the excellence of their work. I am a huge fan.

I am a little to young (just a little) to remember the release of Sgt. Pepper.

You are right the Stones did attempt to depart from the straight bluesy rock 'n' roll that is their hallmark. They usually failed. The Beatles clearly had a broader repetoire. However, I still say when it comes to rock 'n' roll Mick and the Boys are the standard by which all others are judged.
