4. To repair a couple of hernias caused by previous stomach surgery.
I've had this surgery before. I hope the "fix" lasts this time.

6. Here's hoping this surgery will do the trick.
That sounds so horribly painful.

All my hopes for a speedy and permanent recovery.

9. Abdominal surgery is not a lot of fun
I've had several and took full advantage of the pain-killers.

I certainly hope you have a speedy and full recovery. Best of luck!!!!

3. Eek!
I hope it wasn't from a confrontation with that suspected pedophile!

On this very day in 1977, I had surgery on my ear. So Get Well Soon.

5. Nope. Nothing so dramatic. It all started because of my Crohn's disease.

14. Yeowch!
There's a lot of that going around.

My brother has it.

One of my close friends has it and his last "episode" nearly killed him.

One of my (previous) girlfriends had it and went from 140 down to 90 pounds.

And most recently, I've been told that I'm "pre-Crohn's".

In my case, it must have to do with the same lack of moral rectitude that caused me to get fat. Or so one right-wing doctor told me. Oh well. I have enough hair for the hair shirt, so that shouldn't be much of a problem.

Get Well Soon anyway!

15. Diagnosing Crohn's is tricky. Get second and even a third opinion.
I've never heard of pre-Crohn's. Sounds like your MD is just grasping at straws.

7. DSL connection in post-op care? Kewl!
May your recovery be swift and complete. Don't forget to flirt with the nurses, especially the mean ones.

8. Technically, the surgery was 3-weeks ago but I'm just now home.
No, internet at the hospital unfortunately. That's a good idea though. I wonder when that will be offered at hospitals?

17. Kinda. It's a skinny little slit now adjacent to the scar...
So, you really can't see unless you're looking - which I know you're not since I'm grossing you out with my description.

18. Scar envy!!
Awwww, I "only" have a ten incher. Er, um, abdominal scar that is. Nasty bout with diverticulitus in May of '02, they had to rescind part of the small intestine, after 10 days it turns out the end of the intestine died so they had to go back in and cut out some more and give me a new colostomy location. I had a colostomy bag for 7 months but last December I got the plumbing reconnected and the only trace are the scars and off center navel.

If anyone comments about the scars, I just tell em that is where I had my gang tatoos removed.

I also have some sort of hernia due to the abdominal lining not closing all the way. I was told that it should not pose a problem and need not necessarily do anything about it but that they could cut again and add some sort of mesh reinforcing. Is that similar to what you had done?

19. Yeah, a new kind of mesh.
I had some kind of plastic mesh already but they removed it this time and used this new kind that is supposed to dissolve after a looooong time and be replaced by a new layer of protein.

20. I only have an 8-inch scar
and it's on my chest, between my boobs, from open heart surgery. But I also have 3 one-inch scars from the drain tubes-does that count?

Hope you feel better soon, and that you don't have to sneeze any time in the near future!

21. An 8-inch scar between your boobs? I'd like to see that! ;-)
Plus 3 1-inch scars equals total scarification of 11 inches. Sorry, I still have you beat by 3 inches (not including the scars I have on my neck and my nether-regions).
