If someone answers a personal ad saying they want to meet at your place,
and not in a restaurant or public place, and also mention they've wanted to 'meet' you for a long time, and bypass any suggestion of meeting in a public place while adding some really nice descriptive content, would you go through with it?

(I'd say 'no', but what do I know?)

1. After my skin was done crawling, yes, I would say no.
Then I would re-read Gavin DeBecker's "The Gift of Fear," and have a cup of extremely caffeinated tea. 'Cause obviously, I would have been slacking on the consumption of the stimulants to have gotten myself in that situation in the first place.

2. Not just no - but positively, absolutely no. I hope you have not gotten yourself into that situatio...
If you have, please please don't meet privately. Bad things happen to men just like they do to women.

Years ago, my Dad brought some people home with him. They "rolled" him. I don't know if that term is still used these days. But they took his money by force. He was lucky he was not seriously hurt.

Please don't do it. We want our DU friends to stay safe and sound:)

5. I met someone at her place once
It was a blind date that was set up through friends and I called her first. She said instead of making a big thing by going out and all that she would rather meet me and cook dinner at her house and for me to recommend and bring a movie. Turned out to be a nice evening and an even better night afterwards wink, wink, knudge, knudge.

10. In that context, I'd agree...
sadly, this is a bit different - I am compelled to agree with the naysayers on this one. Even if it is 100% legit, the golden rule is to always meet in a public place beforehand.

6. i would say No. No way.
you can be diplomatic about it and rationalize it with 'this is our first meeting, maybe we should make sure there is chemistry between us first...yadda yadda yadda...before we are stuck in a room together alone.'

7. My wife met me at my place...
...which was a military post with armed guards. Don't try this at home.

Please meet in a public place. That this person wants to bypass that understandable security precaution is suspicious.

13. DEFINITELY not.

I know the correct answer to your question. The answer to your question is NO, spelled with capital letters, just like that.
