1. Sure. Some people prefer animals that do well on veg diets but others are okay with carniverous
animal companions.

3. Kitty = obligate carnivore
I know some folks have tried creating vegan cat food, taking care to insure that cats who eat this stuff get all the necessary taurine and other nutrients. They mean well, but cats are obligate carnivores, which means they must eat meat in order to survive.

This is another case where I feel dogma must take a backseat to biology. Now, if you can show me where an obligate carnivore can thrive on a vegan diet, I'll be quite interested.

5. And if they do, so what? They've made a dietary choice for THEMSELVES,
not for their pets.

6. Chill, Redstone. It wasn't a criticism of vegans.
Although I am omnivorous, I respect vegetarians and vegans, especially because those I know are tolerant of other people's dietary choices. But I also find that people choose not to eat meat for a variety of reasons, some moral and philosophical, some for health reasons. So I have no particular axe to grind or point to make. Just think of me as a nutritional anthropologist. I once had a dog who drank from the toilet, and although I personally chose not to drink toilet water myself, I had no philosophical problem with my dog choosing to do so.
