I want a big pionus!!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pionus

They are very quiet in comparison with other parrot families and make excellent pets. Most commonly kept pet species are the Maximillian (Scaly-headed) and White-Capped.

Pionus parrots are known for their quiet (compared to other parrots) and reserved natures. They are not particularly playful, and do not enjoy being wrestled with or flipped on their backs, but they do provide noninvasive companionship and are fascinating companion animals.

When excited or frightened, birds of this genus make a characteristic wheezing or snorting sound that is sometimes mistaken for a sign of distress. They also have a musky or sweet odor that some people find unpleasant, but others enjoy.

i keed

a realistic life expectancy is 25 years, however, there have been cases of pionus living 40 years, please be aware that an old parrot can live a very long time, similar to how a human being can be old a very long time, it is one of the links between our kind

with a bird you need to be emotionally prepared to accept that they have only one functional kidney, lung, etcetera, no duplication of function because they are evolved to fly, so if they get sick, the odds ain't good, on the other hand, a single parrot, with scant opportunity to catch contagious disease, they can live many decades even though a more common animal of equivalent size (small dog or cat) would be ancient at 15

9. Sweet and a bit moody
That's been my experience. My sister got one from some bird rescue here in Florida and when "she" was new she was really docile and always cuddy. She never was strongheaded. Then I went and got her a bigger cage, a huge one with the playtop and all that (thanks Craigslist), for a fraction of retail. She loved it. Anyway, now (after Sister establishing herself as primary caregiver) she gets a little fussy with me from time to time and has even snapped at me. I think it might be because I clean the cage, and I am the one who runs the vacuum cleaner. I don't know. She is the only bird (out of four) that I like.
