4. There was a news story a few years ago

A photographer quit over the situation. The police were abusive to the point of being criminal, and he got it all on film, but it got edited out every time, to make the cops look profesh.

The producers have an arrangement with the cops that they won't make them look bad. When the show was first proposed, police worried they'd do a hatchet job, so they go out of their way to clean it up, or they won't be allowed to film anymore.
