*sigh* What's a guy gotta do to get a date around here???
Coming out of my US Foreign Policy class yesterday (I go to school in Canada), I started talking to this very cute girl. Actually, she started talking to me. She said I seem to know an awful lot about US politics. I said it's kind of my job being an educated voter and all, but that I fear sometimes I become that guy in class everybody wishes would shut up. She said "oh no, don't worry about that, you really add alot".

So we're hitting it off, having a lovely conversation about law school applications, politics etc. It was going pretty well for like an hour and a half. Then she mentioned "my boyfriend is applying to a program like that..."

A swing and a miss.

Oh well. I just wanted to let all of you here who have given me advice in the past on these matters that I'm still trying. I also made an impromptu speech in front of 300 people yesterday while a certain girl I fancy was in the audience. I thought that took some guts. Hopefully it will suitably impress her.

1. "Some time, Rock,

when the team is up against it, when things are wrong and the breaks are beating the boys - tell them to go in there with all they've got and win just one for the Gipper. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock. But I'll know about it, and I'll be happy."

:bounce:

2. well who says she won't go on date with you?
Ask her out anyway, "I know you have a boyfriend, but I was wondering if you'd like to get some coffee/tea/icecream whatever" The fact that she has a boyfriend doesn't necessarily mean she doesn't also want to go out with you. You are still in college. It's not like you're both married with three kids.

She may say no, but she might say yes. Heck she might be just waiting for a nice guy to ask her out so that she can feel comfortable ditching her boyfriend.

4. I don't think that's the way it goes these days
My parents tell me the same thing, but most people in their late teens/early 20s these days won't go out with two people at once. It's a simple as that, so it appears.

5. i'm in my 20s
and I work on a college campus. trust me it happens. She probably doesn't want to string two guys along, but she might be ready to break up with her boyfriend. Especially if he's already applying to law schools that are far away.

Seriously, go for it. Good luck.

3. I used to walk into a bar with $10 pasted on my forehead.
I guess I'd need a $20 or even a $50 now.
