The Cardinals got criticized for having a low win record this season, even though they won their division. The fact that they had a slump in the second half of the season lead some people to underestimate how good this team is.

Let's review the decade.
Since 2000 they've won over 100 games in two seasons, while 2004 was one of the best team records in baseball history.
They've been in the playoffs in all but one year of this decade.
They've been division champions five times. (That's right Houston)
They've been to the World Series twice and of course, won this year.

So frankly, I'm tired of hearing about St. Louis supposedly being a weak team because they had a slump for part of this season. They're a great team and they proved it in the Championship series.

Watching the game last night it was obvious that the announcers and media were ready to tell an inspirational story about the Tigers winning the World Series. It was all scripted out in advance. When the Cardinals won, they didn't even know what to say. There was no cheesy song to play for each commercial break like last year. They had no pre-packaged story line for the Cardinals. There was just a great team that took many by surprise and won. They deserve it.
