Breast Implants
Edited on Wed Oct-18-06 04:20 PM by ThomCat
I work at a major ad agency. Right now our conference center has been taken over by meets and displays by a company that manufactures breast implants.

I only got to peek in. Maybe I'll see more later. But that peek was definitely, um, curvy. I've always thought that fake breasts are kind of obvious, but maybe not.

I bet a bunch of you straight guys would enjoy being here today. (Edit to add: And maybe some of the lesbians too, but I don't know if fake breasts appeal the same way they do to guys.)

Too many advertising execs walking around for a telecom guy to blend in. My suit and tie aren't nearly expensive enough. :)

4. Breast implants used to be really obvious, but these days,
if they're done by a reputable surgeon, it can be hard to tell. Never had any personal experience with implants, though. :hi:

I didn't know it until she told me, even though I generally spent part of each morning with her walking around naked.

It's not many places where you have any reason to see your boss naked on a regular basis.

It was.
Generally, I'd get there as she was getting done with her first workout of the day. So she'd take a shower, and wander around naked, as I helped her figure out what to wear for the day and she'd go over what we needed to get done. She was really hot though, so I didn't mind at all.

The only other job where I saw my boss naked on a regular basis was a normal job, in which I happened to be sleeping with my boss.

23. Nope, we continued working together after the breakup.
There was some drama, but nothing that cost either of us a job. It was the healthfood store. She was let go when it switched ownership. I basically took her position and then I quit six months later because the new owner was a chauvanistic dick.

30. tell me about it.
I worked for one of the biggest wankers in that industry, down south anyway, he started Talley's in downtown Charlotte and opened Earthfare as the manager. At the store I worked at in SC, when they were planning on expanding into Greenville he came in our store (Garner's Natural Market) with a recorder and an assistant and was going up and down the aisles recording our prices, and our manager had him thrown out. He was the biggest sexist leering jerk, he always made a big point of leering at my ass...I mean, to the point where it was embarassing for me.

I don't know how or why men like that get into that industry at all, it doesn't make any sense.

11. They are still very obvious...
especially now that the trend is to put them under the pec muscle to keep them in place better and avoid the "rippling" of the bag when they were simply placed under the skin.

Two simple tests to spot fakes:

If a woman is on her back and her tits are still pointing skyward, they fake.

If a woman walks across a room sans bra and the boobage barely moves, they are fake.

I worked make-up in the film/video industry and I saw more plastic than a recycling plant! The fakes may look good in photos, but the minute movement is involved, their unnaturalness becomes evident.

I have a very modest B cup and you couldn't pay me to get implants! Bleck. Nasty stuff.

Though I have seen a few shows on Plastic Surgery: Before and After where the woman has a breast deformity or had gone through breastfeeding/weightloss and had breasts that looked literally like deflated ballons that hung down to their navel. I understand why they got the implants and they did return to normal looking breasts with them.

29. my boss at one of my jobs in SC had them.
She was a knock-out, I think hers were like 38 DD or something, and when she walked across the room, with a bra, they always did a normal amount of bouncing, which I always appreciated. She was one of those 'take your breath way' types, because she and her husband were just such damn fine human beings in general, two of the best people I've ever had the pleasure to know, so that was part of her attraction, plus she was a state fitness champion too and at one point had been completely ripped, but at that point she was really flat, when I saw the pictures of her, and she had done some ads for some fitness products, that's how I knew she had implants.

31. Bouncing is one thing...
the big fake ones "bounce", but it's a hard bounce -- think Pam Anderson. Breasts are fatty tissue, and a woman with the real deal, especially larger breasts, will have a "jiggle" or undulation to her breast tissue that is simply not there with the bags -- think Elizabeth Taylor. Her's were all real and made Jello jealous! :D

60. you know,
I have never thought about Elizabeth Taylor, I don't think I've ever looked below her neck.Drew Barrymore is someone who I think has an exquisite shape; I think I read somewhere she might have actually had a reduction, but I don't know; it may have just been a lift. I really only have two thoughts about breast implants a) large breasts are worth their weight in gold, absolutely literally, in this culture, so I don't blame any woman for getting implants, even as just a strictly economic decision, since so much of a woman's power to influence men in this culture has to do with the visual, and b) people need to stop judging women for getting them. It's the same as homosexuality, or hell, any sexual expression, people need to lay off what a consenting adult does as long as no one is harmed. The only reason I might care if a woman has implants or not is if I'm jealous, and that's my issue, not hers.

they damn sure aren't imaginary. This is pretty much how you can tell whether a woman is a lesbian or not too...not to put to fine a point on it, but if she's always ripping other women to shreds or looking for an oppty there's a good chance she's on the straight and narrow, so to speak.

10. I met a lady who worked for a doctor that does them.
This was in Greenville SC, mind you, and she said you wouldn't believe how common they are. I don't think they are that obvious anymore, at least visually, unless they are just huge or pushed up from beneath so far that you can tell. I can always tell in fitness magazines which models have them (most do because their body fat is so low to get the cuts to come out) if they have any chest at all, but on women with a body fat percentage in the normal range there is no reason why someone should be able to tell without touching them. Well, there is a caveat and that's that if they tell other women, those women will make sure and point it out as often as possible to everyone within listening range that X's breasts are 'not real'. I worked recently with a woman that had them and she was 44 and cute as a button, like a size 2 or something; she wore the cutest little jeans that girls in high school are wearing now, really low waisted with the flared legs at the bottom, and man, the other women I worked with just ripped her to shred behind her back and went on and on about how 'unnatural' and 'hard' her breasts were. Don't ask me how they knew, lol. I thought she was really cute. Of course, when I worked with another woman a few years ago who was a Pamela Anderson type, but without surgery, the women there were equally hateful and vicious to her as well.

13. I used to be a dancer
so I have a lot of experience with feeling fake breasts, and they don't feel real, but they don't always feel bad. Having good implants is so dependant on a number of things, how big you go, if you go over or under the muscle, how big you were to begin with, if you lose weight after the surgery, saline, silicon (though not used as often anymore), if you develop scar tissue, etc.

Someday I may have my own... :-)

She is 5'-4", 103 lbs. 51 years old and wore a size 1 and cute as a button. She was small on top but in perfect proportion the the rest of her shape and at 51, quite perky. I would guess she was maybe a 34" full A cup. She now has huge udders, I swear they must be a D and she reminds me of a tootsie pop... It looks very unnatural, imho. This thin petite woman with almost no body fat and huge boobage is not a naturally occuring phenomenon.

I even started a poll thread here in July with before and after pics and asked for opinions, mods deleted it even tho I never showed her face. If anyone wants to see the pics PM me an email addy, I'd still like to get input.

the cheap porn star look in breast implants arose, because a lot of pornstars and strippers went to cheap surgeons. they even make actual breast shaped implants. If you don't try to make them too big, they can look very natural.

I heard that after you get the surgery you are told that you will need to have them replaced in roughly 10 years.

though a good surgeon will tell his or her patient before the surgery. :) Ten year shelf life -- but I really don't know how many women go back and have them redone unless there's been some sort of implant/tissue malfunction.

What's going to happen in the next 10 years as these implants "expire"? Do we have good information on the long-term effects of these implants?

Wow. There's a possibility that we are setting ourselves up for a very expensive correction in our health care system.

And the silicone ones aren't as safe as the saline they use now. I think we'd already know what the long-term effects are. There isn't going to be any "time bomb" in ten years when they "expire," as they've been around for quite a long time already and there has been no "time bomb."

A friend of mine moved to Hollywood to work in the industry (behind the scenes). Came back home for a party, and asked the S.O. & I "so, do you notice anything different?" We both thought "Uhm...you put on a lot of weight?"

Nope - not fat -- just a boob job: "everyone out there has them"

59. I've noticed that
if you are short, and have thin hips and no waist, they will make you look like you've gained weight, especially if they are the kind that veer outward from the centerline. I kind of wonder about that, why on some women they end up almost in the armpits; Christian Aguilera's are like this, and for some of these women to push them together and make cleavage seems to require some effort. I wonder if those are the ones that are under the muscle...

61. Aguilera should SUE the idiot who did her breast job!
My god they are hideous -- they hang too low and point in opposite directions! It's like her boobs are wall-eyed!

64. I don't think I could handle the pain from implant surgery
I like to act all snotty about implants and say I would never get them because they're gross and stupid but in all honesty, the idea of inserting liquid balloons in my chest just sounds so damn PAINFUL!
