Being single on Christmas sucks!
This is my 6th holiday season single, after an 18 year marraige that ended up in divorce.
I have my 3 kids with me, ages 21, 18, 13, and I really enjoy being with them, but I really do miss having that someone special in my life to share the experience with. Ya know, someone to plan and shop with, to help with the holiday meal, someone to put the presents under the tree with, someone to give that special gift to... Oh well, I dont mean to bum anyone out but I dont have anyone to vent and share with.

Anyhoo, I want to wish all on DU a verty happy holiday!

Count your blessings, and enjoy your kids. Ms/Mr Right is out there waiting to pounce when you least expect it. ;-)

4. Thank You maxanne.
Give my regards to the beautiful Granite State where I grew up (Salem).
Hopefully next year will be better for all.

God Bless.

7. An old friend of mine broke up with his before Xmas to save $$$ on gifts.
He's actually more of an aquaintance though. Every year around 12/1 he'd break up with his girlfriend so he wouldnt have to buy her a present.
A real prince, huh?

9. Actually one girlfriend broke up with me the day after Valentine's Day.
And then asked that I give her back the Valentine's Day presents she gave me.

Get this - she was almost certain she was going to break up with me, but she still went to the trouble of buying gifts...

I'm just a lonely romantic I guess.
My heart goes out to all those who are truly alone.

11. thank your deity (or fate) that you have children
I have to spend christmas alone this year. My family (mom and siblings) is going to a relative's house for dinner and there is a 100 ft walk from thier bathroom where i would have to take my insulin shot as opposed to the dinner table where my doctor told me to take the shot.

So I chose to eat alone instead of dying from low blood sugar. I'm also single so I feel your pain but there is nothing like at least having someone around.

13. I can relate...
I was with my ex almost 10 years, and even though he was a jerk and didn't do anything for Christmas anyway, at least I didn't feel lonely at a time when everybody is just BEAMING with holiday joy. It's hard to pretend to be happy at the holidays!

After our divoce, I was single for 5 years, other than short term relationships, none of which included holidays or my birthday. I had a long distance relationship for the past 2 Christmases, and though we weren't *together* at the holiday, at least I had someone to think about.

Now it's just me, alone, and trying not to be a bummer to my friends. But yeah, you're right. It sucks.
