I can't wait to watch. May have to TIVO though, as I have been drinking since 2pm. I heard great things about this film. Viggo!

1. I liked it
I seem to recall that the ending was maybe a little weak, but maybe not -- been a while since I saw it. It's got a couple of fairly graphic 'adult' bits that kind of surprised me (not too much is shown, but much is implied). I hope you like it!

3. I think the ending is great.
But I've heard people complain about it. My theory is that people - not necessarily you! - tend to expect some kind of clever twist in movies that are even remotely of the thriller genre, and when it delivers something that makes actual emotional and dramatic sense instead, they get mad and resentful.

Just another way in which History of Violence subverts the genre and the expectations around it.

4. Maybe I agree
:D

All I remember is that there was something about the end that stood out, but I don't really remember whether it was a letdown or the highlight. When I saw it, I had a fair bit of other stuff on my mind -- I'll have to catch it again one of these days, maybe. Great acting, all around, is what I certainly do remember.

And right now I'm flashing on scenes with Will Ferrell as the bad guy at the movie's end....I know that's not right, but that's what my overstuffed memory is telling me. The mind is a weird thing...mine is, lately, anyway. :D

Viggo's aways good, too (I know half the ladies of DU agree). I just watched Hidalgo for the first time since I saw it in the theater and I enjoyed it...not one of the great films, but still a rollicking outing and he and that cool little horse of his (horses, I guess, though I think he kept the main one...the others were painted to match its markings) are appealing.

8. Oh, hell. I liked it.
But then again I'd watch Viggo Mortensen mow his lawn and like it.
