Sonya Thomas...

Ranked # 3 in the world, the only woman in the Top 20. Came in 2nd in yesterday's Jalapeno contest :D

1. Damn. I only needed to eat 13 to win a jalapeno eating contest.
We weren't professionals though, just really bored and with a bunch of jalapenos we couldn't sell, due to an asshat freezing them solid.

3. Yeah, she ate 239....
:wow:

and then there's this: "Sonya “The Black Widow” Thomas, ranked third in the world by the federation, said before the contest that she had never had a jalapeño.

“Are they spicy?” she asked; 239 peppers later, she had her answer and the second-place prize of $1,000.

She once ate 11 pounds of cheesecake in nine minutes. On other occasions, she has eaten 552 oysters and 44 lobsters. Thomas is 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs about 100 pounds."

She blows my mind....even though I think Competitive Eating is simply symbolic of wasteful Western society and conspicuous consumption....Yeah, I'm conflicted :P

5. Eh, it's no more wasteful than meat consumption.
I find it amazing that people can eat like that. I can eat one or two lobsters (if they're small).

11. Competitive eating is sick
and should be outlawed.

Why promote and subsidize gluttony and potential harm?
