I just caught a fly in my hand and set it free
the other day, I was patted on the back by coworkers from Santa Fe who applauded the fact that I took a cricket outside by putting it on a spoon and setting it on the grass.

I have also set previous friends and lovers free, and have seen them, at least some of them, blossom like flowers in the rain.

Have you set anything free lately?

(my last - hopefully - string of consiousness thread. thanks for reading!)

2. A spider
I get a lotta Daddy Longlegs in here, and a week or so ago I went to take a shower and there was one in the tub. I enticed him to crawl onto a piece of toilet paper, then put him down on the sink counter.

I felt good about that. :7

4. did you at least let him say his spider prayers first, or
speak to his 2 hundred thousand children?

If not, the horror remains in my mind.

Oh, the horror!

He scurried away — a bit frightened, perhaps, but quite alive.

11. I don't kill spiders
or almost any other creature. I'll kill flies because they serve no beneficial purpose and they're like the AOL of germs.

I figure most creatures have just as much right to live as I do.

15. completely understandable
they probably have friends and relative bugs they can stay with. Why should they be sitting there listening to your music when they are NOT your friends?

:hi:

16. My son has been setting many things "free" this week
he is five years old and REALLY into insects/spiders.

So we have been letting him catch them, put them in a jar.

He then, by himself, puts twigs, leaves in the jar to make the critters "comfortable".

He caught a caterpillar the other day, the next day he woke up, came running to me and said, "Daddy, the caterpillar had babies last night!" So I looked in the jar, and told him, "Wow, that is really neat!"
He then said, "I should let it go so that it can take care of her babies."
I said, "I think that is a great idea."

I guess I didn't want to ruin his moment and tell him the "babies" were really caterpillar poo.

What a great kid.

22. I kill every one of the fuckers I can. Flies are vile.
Crickets? I let them hang around in the house if they want to; they don't bother me.

(Not to whizz on the meaning of your post; sorry.)
