1. i have seen this happen before and almost had it happen to me
it is amazing the lengths that businesses will go to to prevent people from taking their garbage - huge walls and fences around dumpsters, locks or bars, for something that they deemed worthless enough to throw out.

most people are pretty disgusted by the idea but if you know the right places you can find stuff that's absolutely no different than what they have in a display case indoors - it's just a matter of location.

it's amazing how wasteful this country is and what people are willing to throw out.

yeah i've gone dumpster diving but so fucking what - i did it cause i had to not because i looked forward to the idea of hanging out in dumpsters - where the fuck are this country's priorities?

2. Back when I was an apartment manager people'd call me all of the time
"OMG! Somebody's digging the cans out of the dumpster!" So I'd go back there and I'd remind them not to make a mess (they never did, unlike my tenants) and to keep an eye out for cars and then I'd get back to my office and my paperwork. I never could figure out why somebody making a few bucks for themselves and reducing our trash bill was such a crime.

3. At least these store owners
didn't want any part of it after they found out they weren't robbed.

:pals: to you and I'm glad your dumpster diving days are over.
I wish no one had to do this to get food.

our priorities.... how much was that missile test the other day??
