Holy Crap! I CAN NOT BELIEVE what I just found.
Okay, so I had this Zippo lighter that I formed a bizarre emotional attachment to. I lost that thing numerous times and it would reappear a month later. I'm not even talking about losing it at home. I'm talking about leaving it at a bar and having the bartender return it a month later. Shit like that. Anyway, so last year on this exact day, I lost that lighter somewhere in the process of moving between apartments. I searched in vain for weeks, but I could never find it.

Flash forward one year. I'm reorganizing my closet (and I've moved again since the lighter was originally lost) and I go to put my purple Doc Martens away and I hear something rattling in them. I reach inside and it's my "Lucky Lady" Zippo. HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!! I am so fucking happy, it's ridiculous. And it's over a fucking lighter, but she's my "Lucky Lady." I have no clue, how I never found her. I've even worn those boots in the meantime. The whole thing is just completely fucking bizarre.

:woohoo:

Anyway, here she is...

Ain't she a beauty?

1. If you were that attached to it, I'd have thought
you'd take better care of it. :P

2. If you love something
set it free
if it comes back to you
it will be yours forever ...

3. Hey, I have ADD.
Anyway, you wouldn't believe the hell I went through during that move. I got zero notice to find out I had to be out two days earlier than expected, as in "oh yeah, I know we discussed you staying here another two days, but we scheduled a paint crew to come in at 7am tommorow, so you have to be out of here by then."

9. This is going to sound silly but
the next time that happens, just ask the cats where it is.

10. They don't really steal stuff.
Well, Ginsberg steals food (and he will eat ANYTHING), but other than that they're not thieves.

but they know where it is when you lose it. ;)

11. I've had two or three Zippos™
All of 'em engraved. You do get attached to 'em — maybe because they just feel good, and they're trustworthy, as long as you remember to fill 'em and keep a spare flint in the cotton.

It's weird, but there's just something about the sound when you open and close one. It's solid.

17. STOMP has a Zippo lighter bit they do...
About six of them take the stage with zippos and flip them open and shut and zip the flint and stuff to create these cool rhythms... call me a geek, but I thought that show was pretty cool. :)

12. You haven't work your purple docs in a year?
Edited on Sat Sep-02-06 02:13 PM by thefool_wa
And you call yourself a slacker! Sheesh!

:) :)

ps - that is quite a cool zippo, almost as cool as my custom engraved NIN logo lighter, long since lost with nowhere near the luck you have had with this one.

I would say "hang on to it" - but apparently taht doesn't matter.

on edit: I know - you said you have worn them since the loss. maybe the lighter fell out of a jacket or sweater pocket or a box at some point?

13. Maybe, wherever it came from....
I'm happy it's back.

I have a few zippos actually, but this one was always my favorite. I put a new flint and some lighter fluid in her and she's good as new.

23. Montel has to hear about this!
Edited on Sat Sep-02-06 04:08 PM by Gormy Cuss
Quick, call the producers of the Montel Williams show and ask to be on a taping with Sylvia Browne. She will undoubtedly tell you that the lighter is attached to some dead relative or friend who keeps misplacing it and bringing it back just for fun.

The things I "learn" when I'm home sick and watch daytime T.V. :silly:

27. There are supposedly mischievous demons...
Who steal our stuff, take it into their dimension, play with it, get bored, and then return it. It's freaky how stuff will disappear, you'll look everywhere, and it will turn up in a place where you looked five times. Demons are the only explanation. Have you been smelling something burning lately?
