Well BUMMER! My evening plans have been thwarted.
Looks like I'm going to have to find an alternative activity. I fear it will be... reading a good book. Sigh.

1. Hey Crim son, a good book is nothing to sigh about.
You are in an elite minority. Some statistics for you:

58% of the US adult population never reads another book after high school.
42% of college graduates never read another book.
80% of US families did not buy or read a book last year.
70% of US adults have not been in a bookstore in the last five years.
57% of new books are not read to completion.

Settle back, get a good bottle of wine, get your lighting just right and immerse yourself. Enjoy the adventure. :)

3. I used to be an incredibly prolific reader.
But not for the last couple of years. I think I'm going through a stage. Anyhow, it's Life of Peter the Great, which is a darned good book.

6. Ahhh, a non fiction book even better.
I go through one non fiction book every week or two. I may have get Peter the Great when I'm finished with my current book.

14. This is one of those times I'm glad to be abnormal
AS for my family:

-neither my wife nor I can count the number of books we have read since high school or college
-We bought several books last year and read to our kids every day
-My wife spends between 3 and 5 hours a week sitting at Barnes&Noble reading books she gets off the shelf (shhhhh!)
-We only don't finish books that suck.

OK, so my being a writer and my wife having been born a bookworm both lend themselves to these things, but, again, I am glad to be abnormal in this instance.

8. I had two potential plans:
1) a friend was supposed to come up from Mass. and we'd reconnect to catch up. He couldn't make it. So,
2) a girlfriend called to ask if I wanted to go out for a drink. But then her boyfriend and she had an argument and now they're "making up." I really wish I was making up with somebody this evening :(

12. Yes, that's the best.
But I am keeping my newly positive outlook, never fear. No crying for four days and no moments of uncontrollable sadness either. I have come to believe it's his loss. I've no interest in anything but LOVE. And I know I'll find it...just not tonight!
