2. Those beans remind me of a funny story...

When we were young, my father asked my older sister to break-up green beans for cooking. She was about 12 yrs. old at the time. Anyway, she didn't know you were supposed to break the ends off and take the string out, so she just broke them in half an put them into a pot of water. My Dad was irritated with her; so after he asked her why she did it that way (and he then showed her the correct way), my older sister screamed, "It's not my fault-- I wasn't raised on a farm!" We teased her about it mercilessly. Wow, now that I've told that story, I realize my family really was crazy. Oh well, it was funny at the time.

"Cool Beans" took on a different approach giving a playful tone
to the contrast in words. The association of the noun "beans"
with the adjective "cool" developed a duality making a phrase
that was humorous and light-hearted. Unlike other slang phrases
"Cool Beans" was not the result of television popularity, but rather
just a twist on words developed by teenagers.
