1. Poor Gable never did get over her death.
She was so young when she died.

2. She decided to take a plane instead of a train
because she was suspicious that he was fooling around with Lana Turner. If only she had taken the train!

I think she was one of the best comedic actresses to come out of Hollywood. Unfortunately she is not remembered all that much today except for rabid fans like me! I have my TV tuned to TCM right now!

smart, funny, and beautiful woman who had a wonderfully contemporary feeling as an actor. So many of the actors from that era seem to be very much of their times, but not her -- her work holds up well to time.

What movies are they playing???

7. Wow! I have not seen...
so many of those! I love seeing the more obscure older films that were still good but not huge hits and/or "classics".

The desciption of "We're not Dressing" sounds a lot like "Swept Away".

I think I know what I'll be doing tonight!!

Thanks for the heads-up, Arwalden!

9. I like "Mr and Mrs Smith" a lot.
Nice movie. Robert Montgomery was the father of a certain 60's television sitcom actress. :-)

Thanks for the heads-up.

10. I have that movie and I agree..

it's one of my favorite Carole Lombard movies. Did you know they originally wanted Cary Grant? I think Robert Montgomery did a good job but I wonder how the movie would have been with Cary Grant in that role. Oh yes,...he is the father of a certain 60's actress who twitched her nose a lot. :-)

11. I didn't know that about Cary Grant.
Thanks for the info. I can definitely see him in that role. But Robert Montgomery gave a nice performance in it. :-)
