Like a good mom, I dragged myself out of bed on the last day I could have slept in before I have to start the school bus merry-go-round. I was down at the DMV at 7:15, waiting in line for the doors to open at 8.

Only to find out that the birth certificate that the state of California sent me 15 years ago is something called an 'abstract'...a short form. They won't take it. They need the long form.

No permit for Bonehead.

or the SAAQ, it's equivalent in Québec, usually can't think straight and are completely incapable of explaining what the fuck they are asking. It makes my blood boil every time.

He was so looking forward to it. And he couldn't get a state ID, either. Stupid.

I have to confess to being a little relieved, though. I get another month or so, probably (state of California also doesn't accept applications over the phone or online...gotta do it snail mail)
