I just ran four miles without stopping!
Any other runners in the Lounge? :hi:

I started running in March of this year and could hardly run a block without huffing and puffing! However, I've kept at it and, while I'm slow as molasses in December, I can now run for four miles. I ran one 5K in June and finished in 35 minutes. I'm running another in August and hope to improve my time. My ultimate goal is to run a half-marathon (13.1 miles) in December and a full marathon sometime next fall.

I like running because it's a sport without coaches (unless you're very elite) and I can do it all on my own time. No crowded gyms, no membership fees, and the main competition is your own endurance.

I just felt like tooting my own horn for a moment. Thanks for listening! :bounce:

2. Must've been. That'd be the only thing would make me run that far.
And the son of a bitch who was chasing me would have had to have had a cannon.

8. There's no way I could outrun an attacker
Unless they were in a wheelchair. But if it was one of those motorized ones I'd be SOL! :scared:

7. Since I'm the slowest runner in the club I had to pretend
that I was being pursued. :D

5. Thanks! I'm a member of a running/walking club
I'm such a slow runner that I am usually in the middle between the two groups, lol.

10. You'd think that having had that drilled in to me for so many years, that
I'd at least contemplate warming up and cooling down. I think I can count the number of times I've actually done them on both hands (aside from wthe times when I was being led, as in the military).

14. it's amazing what your body will do if you ask it
If you'd have asked me a year ago if I'd ever be able to run four miles, or even one mile, I would've said no way!

Of course, you have to ask nicely and increase your mileage very slowly to avoid injury, especially if you're an uninsured temp like me. :evilfrown:

15. I remember the 1st time
I made it around Lake of the Isles in Minneapolis without stopping. It was about a 3 mile run. I was more of a high then it was when I finished my 1st and only marathon. Congrats!

16. I haven't run in years, but I walk 6 to 18 miles a week.
Depends on the weather. Most weeks closer to the 6,
2 walks to the gallery 3 miles away.
But sometimes I get ambitious and walk more days,
or forget to take bus fare, and have to walk home again.

17. That's Great!
Running is the best. Anytime, anywhere, no need for partners (like tennis), no need for lots of special equipment, and it makes you feel good.

The races are a lot of fun too.

Enjoy.
